Im seriously considering buying this 2001 4.6 GT that has a good build on it but Im pretty sure its using the factory block. The car has a NOVI 2000 Supercharger on it and the seller claims the block will handle 800 rwhp if desired. Need to know accurate info on how much power the stock 4.6 block can handle...and has it been durable over the years ? THanks.

aslong as the motor is forged youll be allset. The block in the GT is the same block in the cobra. So yes the block can handle that much power.

the block itself can handle more than that novi2000 could ever throw think about throwing at it... the internals/rotating assembly are what you want to make sure are up to par.

The stock block cannot handle 800rwhp. With forged internals it's possible, though.

Stock block 4.6L 2v should be limited to 450rwhp max. Even that is stressing the engine.

THE STOCK BLOCK (THE THING WITH 8 HOLES IN IT) BY ITSELF CAN TAKE THE POWER YOU'RE SPEAKING OF. THE STOCK INTERNALS (RODS, PISTONS, ETC.) CAN NOT.

what does the rotating assembly consist of? if it's stock i wouldn't push it much more than 425-450ish if it were my car. plenty of people have been making that kind of power reliably for some time now. do you have a link to a for sale thread/add by any chance?

Stock 4.6 block, Forged Crank, Diamond Pistons, Manley H rods, blower cams, Stage 2 Heads , cometic head gaskets . Engine Builder told him the motor is good to 25 psi boost . Right now its at 16 psi and delivering over 600 rwhp thru a Lentech Strip Terminator Trans. Id want to go at least 20 psi on racing gas which must be close to 800 hp. (?) .

Sounds like it's ready to rock! If it is holding 600 well it's not stock, but if it truly has what he said, you should be good. All you can do is run it up and see.

with those internals, and a good tune, i wouldn't be scared to put down about 800 wheel.

My brother bought a nice 00 GT with a built motor and a blower. Sold the blower, put on a turbo, 1 week later the motor was blown. The side skirts on the CP pistons where scratched up. Point is, yes the motor was built. Who built it? There was already a problem happening. If he left the blower, probably could have driven for years. The turbo finished it off. So, if you play, be prepared to pay! As long as you are willing to risk it, pump up the boost!!
