Finally got to tow the viper today. Did a small 45ish mile loop with a lot of traffic going back one way and lots of hills, still averaged 17.5mpg. I honestly think it will get close to 20 in normal conditions. Trailer plus viper is pretty light though, it should be around 5k pounds. I will be towing it 3000 miles across the country in two weeks so I will be able to give a better mpg and towing opinion soon.

Edit: also so far in the 3.5k miles I've owned the truck have averaged just over 20 with most of it being city driving.

I’m of the opinion they’re WAAAY overkill for something like this. If I was driving an enclosed sure but under 5k pounds is nothing even for a 1/2 ton.
