Ditched the APS Cat Back for a HKS Carbon - Ti.

If you ever wonder why all those eBay cans have the "titanium blue" tips - thank HKS for the trend. This was THE exhaust to get back in the day. While as subtle and refined as Hooters Waitress, it sounds fantastic with no annoying highway drones.

Well that's a happy surprise that don't happen often.

Will this change your vape pen setup?

Yeah, gonna give up the vape for some NOS.

All seriousness, I was like "must not buy injectors and a 20G... must finish Skyline"

Still need to finish the timing job tomorrow, get a Perrin Up-Pipe Installed (04-05 have catted up-pipes that like to explode).

Raise the car half an inch, get an alignment , ditch the cheap Chinese tires for some Toyo R1Rs and install my DEFI gauges.

I’m assuming Cosworth is a serious brand. Happy find for sure.

For Real?

Cosworth Engineering Future Technologies

F1 engine developer since the 1960's, also a huge player in rally racing. Gave us the Cosworth Ford Seira, Cosworth Ford Escort and Cosworth Ford Focus RS.

Tier 1 shit. Not for the poors. More racing influence then Shelby ever dreamed of.

I should’ve been a little more serious. I’ve heard of it, know they’ve done old stuff and are still big.

But it’s a foreign language to me. I don’t know “how big”.

Like, “Oh, neat. A Cosworth block.”

“Oh, **** me! A Cosworth block.”

Or, “Holy ****, is that seriously a Cosworth block?”

Probably already been covered but I'm too lazy to read.

Are you sticking with the top mount intercooler or are you going with a front mount? I assume you're still going to run a dragon ball z shift knob though, right? Right??

Wasn't aware cosworth was involved with Subaru's.

I'd still be jerking off if I found a cosworth block in my car...

Actually he probably took that picture sometime last week and just now finished wanking long enough to post about it. He's probably shaking another one out right now.

Yup. STI intercooler is solid. No issues up to 500hp. It will heat soak but that's what the water sprayer is for. I know the newer EJ255 WRXs got plastic end tanks that pop at 20psi and that's an issue.

I'm not hacking up the front for a FMIC. I also like the TMIC look.

Wrong demographic. Do people still put "Rally Pig" stickers on their cars?

Yup. They even released a Cosworth SC400 STI in 2014. Basically a factory car with a Cosworth engine making 400hp.

Not sure if their engines made it into actual WRC cars.

It's a $6,000 Gucci forged short block from a legendary engine builder.

An OEM short block is $1,800.

The weak point on a STI' EJ257 engine is the cast pistons with tightly gapped factory piston rings (emissions). Even stock,.some bad gas and abuse often results in a cracked ringland.

Good tuning you can see 350-400whp, but again, any detonation and you'll lose a ringland. Factory Rods are beefy and solid up to 550hp.

IGA is the most popular engine builder these days, a forged short block will run you $3800 from them.

Adding a few others to drive the point home.

^^ 155 wins in F1, 10 constructors and 12 drivers championships.

It could be easily argued that Cosworth is the greatest engine builder of all time.

Whelp, tons of delays because of end of year work and the wife being whamen.

Finally got it all buttoned up.

New Belt kit and water pump. Got an up pipe in, total pita to get the old catted up pipe out. Had to undo a motor mount and jack the car up.

And here's the rub....

Purging the coolant system its all smoking from the turbo, first thought was I didn't torque one of the gaskets... Nope.

I'll have to check to see if it's the washers on that line or if the turbo it's self has blown seals.

Now taking a second look at the grime under the car, it's only in that area. So it's likely been leaking for a while. Only seeing it now since I ditched all those bullshit heat shields.

It may be the screen in the banjo bolts. I know those are notorious for clogging up. Hopefully it didn't ruin the turbo
