I recently had a new Sachs (OEM spec.) clutch kit (Disc, PP, TOB & Pilot Bearing) installed on my 02 GT due to a bad TOB. The flywheel had also been resurfaced. The Clutch engaged without a flaw for about a month. I am now having a shimmy/vibration that moderately shakes the entire car after the clutch/car has been driven awhile. The clutch will operate smoothly when cold. The vibration occours while engaging the clutch in first gear. The vibration is non existent at any other time wheater hot or cold. I have taken it to the shop that put the clutch in and they told me that they believe the issue is misfire related. The mechanic had connected his scanner and pointed out that a couple of cylinders were misfiring too much (50 times more than the rest) and I should change the suspect coil packs and install new boots/plugs. After I did that there was no change in the status as the symptoms were still the same. I have been able to take off in second gear without the engine bogging down and can put the car in 5th gear at 25mph and floor it and the engine does not hesitate to get the car up to speed even after it warms up.

I have taken the car to a transmission shop to let them test drive it after it was warm and the symptoms were present. While riding in the car with the technician the symptoms were noticable to me but to the mechanic he did not notice any abnormalities. He stated the the clutch was "grabby" and that was a result of the clutch being hot from normal driving. Problem is that I have had the car for three years and it never gave me any issues vibrating after it warmed up with the old clutch. I am not sure if I have an issue here or not. I am not sure if the Sachs clutch I put on was a bad idea. I am not sure if maybe when the engine warms up the misfire situation worsens causing the shimmy/vibration.

To go back further, I personally changed the clutch myself. Problem is I went cheap with the clutch kit (like a dumbass!:cuss:) and the flywheel was only "cleaned up" by a machine shop and not properly turned. I had taken the flywheel to Oreillys to have it resurfaced, but they did not recommend having it turned due to some slightly noticable hot spots(chatter marks). They did not want to be liable so they recomended an auto machine shop that would let me know if it could be resurfaced. The machine shop said the flywheel appeared to be in good shape and the machinist put the flywheel on a large table top flat belt sander and he worked the flywheel by hand. $35 down the drain. So needless to say that clutch did not last long.

Any suggestions or ideas would be appreciated.
