So my car has had some hanging idle and surging and wants to stall in neutral coasting and I cleaned to iac and a lot of characteristics changed so I ordered a new one since they are cheap. Can I simply install it or is there something else I should do to prep it, like pull the battery etc?

Simple remove and replace. Good idea to clear the KAM memory via the battery like you mentioned. It'll learn either way but best to start fresh.

Might want to look into spraying some MAF cleaner or QD Electric Parts Cleaner on the MAF too, cover another possible cause while your at it.

Just R&R it. Check for codes, and address them if necessary. Also, clean the T-body and throttle plate.

One last thing, check your tp sensor voltage at idle or engine off ignition on, should be around 1.0 volt.

It sounds like you may have a vacuum leak also.

It did end up being a vacuum leak, I took it to a speed shop and they found a vacuum hose that had to be replaced.
