I was needing new rubber on the 911. Decided to pull my HRE's off and change up the look a little!

I Plasti dipped my factory BBS wheels. This is the 3rd time that I've done this. First time I went with Anthracite, then gold with the Anthracite base and now gold with a yellow base. I am very pleased with how they turned out and love the look!!

Old rubber:

(such a shame the fronts have so much tread left and the rears wear much quicker!)

Looks good. The whole car looks great. It’s nice to be able to change up the wheel color like that.

Awesome ride, as mentioned before the Martini stripe accents are so nice.

Not familiar with the process, are you using a traditional gun to shoot it?

Masking not required?

Do you coat the wheel to ensure nothing happens?

Does the stuff you buy OTC in a can really peel off safely when your done?

I assumed it was a product to hide damages defects etc, not something I’d see you use!!!

Thanks all, appreciate the comments!

Using an airless sprayer. Yep, slather on some tire dressing and it will peel off pretty easily. (can be a PIA sometimes, but not horrible)

Yep, comes right off. The more coats the easier it is to peel. I've got about 4 base coats and 3-4 top coats of gold on these.

It's also surprisingly durable. I've had it last almost 2 years for me before...or until i need new rubber. Just have to be somewhat gentle with it while cleaning.

Nope, not hiding anything, factory wheels were mint prior to this! LOL, just like how easy it is to use/change colors/looks/etc!

I like the factory finish. I also like your new finish. Which goes back to you saying that you "just like how easy it is to use/change colors/looks". Nice job! Awesome Porsche!

Looks Great! Would it be easier if you threw some note cards between the rim and tire?

That turned out much better then I expected. It has me tempted to do this on my truck as I’ve been itching for a change but love the style of my current wheel
