I know what you mean...I have the shitty, flimsy little flip-out cup holder in my 96 that flips out of the front of the center console. That doesn't get in the way at all....

Nothing is worse than the GTO. I have basically one cup holder that's actually usable with anything larger than a can of coke.

I put a rock crusher shifter handle in my 03 and the knob would hit anything that was in the closest cupholder when the car was in 2nd, 4th or 6th. If something was in the back cupholder I would have to put my arm at a 45 degree angle to push the f*ckin thing into gear.

If my memory is correct, when you opened the glove box the inside of the door had two 1/4 inch circular indents for your cup. Not very effective though....LOL

One of the things I love most about my 66. I'm currently building a custom center console that will have cupholders towards the front down by the passengers floor. Waaay out of the way of the shifter.
