I never understood the really high ape hangers. Maybe it is because I have bad shoulders, but man that looks uncomfortable.

Those are ridiculous, however a "normal" set is actually comfortable and will give you lots of airflow under your arms to keep you cool.

You're not hanging on or doing pull ups, but just resting your arms on it.
