So you've experienced the night of a thousand waterfalls as well. Our youngest suggested weighing yourself at the start and then when (hopefully) you are done. That way you know how full of shit you are.
I had an employee years ago who planned on coming to the office on her prep day, lucky her with a doctor who had her start 24 hours ahead. Since I had experience with the process I told her to take the day off. She came in after the procedure and said, "I am so glad I listened to you!"
