feel like there would be more to it then that.

Look up the tax rates that pay for their "free" health care.

Wiki has an example of a couple with one child making 100000 euro a year.... all told they pay over 33,000 for their national income taxes alone....

Nothing is free.... someone has to pay for it.

actually- each citizen in the EU pays less overall taxes than US citizens yet they get way more benefits. for instance if you lose your job the Eu pays your mortgage, expenses, give you a shopping allowance and vacation money (cause looking for a job is stressful and you need to relax)- when's the last time you saw the US paying anyone's mortgage when they lost their job. So don't believe everything the US reports on the EU.

Not sure about you, but roughly 30% of my income goes to taxes, and I still pay outrageous prices for healthcare. It's going into someone's pocket.

Determination of general tax payable[edit]The table below determines the amount of tax payable. Tax rates apply per band of income. The rates are marginal rates of tax.

General Scale (Autonnomies could change half of the percentage scale). This scale is applied since 2012 due to European exigencies and the finance crisis in Spain.

Taxable general base Tax Up to % based on income. (See Wikipedia to read the below chart more clearly)
