Black/Black
Operation Road Warrior/It’s Hammered!

Client brought me his ‘road warrior’ to clean up and get some ‘protection’ on it. It lives outside 24/7 and has seen better days. This vehicle is by far the worst paint condition I have had in to date. I was going to say it was in the top 3, but this one takes the cake.

Heavy swirling on every panel, the hood and leading edge of the roof were in horrendous condition. HEAVY defects scratching, gouging, etc were all over these panels with a little bit of clear failure beginning on the edges. The heaviest scratching was all in one direction (forward/backward in straight lines) over these panels as if it were abraded by something—I thought car wash, but it was only on these panels, and the rest of the roof was OK; perhaps someone used something in an attempt to clean it, or they used it to build sandcastles on…I don’t know! LOL

The heaviest/biggest guns in my arsenal cleaned it up a bit, but still would not correct. I tried a test spot with some sanding…still not avail. The hood is fiberglass, and some of the scratches were indented/gouges, but come on! It cleaned up and glossed up well, but the majority of the heavy stuff is still there.

The ‘details’:

Adam’s wheel cleaner.
Adam’s tire and rubber cleaner.
McKee’s37 Si02 hydro blue to seal wheels.
Adam’s strip wash.
Medium clay alternative mitt.
McKee’s37 iron remover.
McKee’s37 APC.
DeFelkso PTG.
Scangrip lighting.
Flex 3401.
Scholl Concepts S0 matting compound.
Scholl Concepts S3.
Griot’s Fast correcting cream.
LC Force Hybrid pads, from wool, grey HD to orange.
Optimum panel wipe.
SPS Graphene coating.
Adam’s tire shine.
Auto Finesse glass cleaner.
Metro vacuum.
303 interior protectant.

Thanks for looking!

What a turn around!
Yes, an "Extreme Makeover" is a lot of work...but it is greatly satisfying!!!
It`s impossible to obtain "show car" results on something so neglected...
But it turned out 1000+ times better than when you got it!

GREAT WORK!

That borders on miraculous, sometimes the only gun to pull out is a paint gun, lol.

Looks like a mirror Scott!!! Beautiful.
I actually like that thing. Looks pretty killer with that tire/wheel package. Very nice.

Incredible work as always, but this job is particularly impressive. That device you use just tells you how much paint and clear there is?

I don't know HOW you did that WITHOUT wet sanding...

MIRACULOUS!

Thanks everyone! I didn't turn out as I wished it could have, but it is a ton better.

Canuck: Yes, it is a Paint Thickness Gauge and gives you an idea of how much clear coat you have to work with.

TAF: I tried a test spot w/paper and it didn't do much more correction...never had that happen before!

I figured with your 5.0 reading that might be your chosen avenue...what you did...involved MUCH more elbow grease, I'm sure...it looks REALLY good...you brought that thing back to life! Hope you client recognized the transformation!

Thank you! If I can get away without sanding, I will! Not my favorite thing to do!

He was blown away/happy as heck!

You said it perfectly, Merl! Both of you guys do amazing work.

In this case, I am 100% certain the owner was astounded by the before and after.
