Wife wakes me up and says we have a problem and the internet / TV is down. She works from home and needs internet. Fortunately we have unlimited data with the phones and her work computer is connected to her iPhone's Personal Hotspot.

I go look outside and sure enough she chewed through the wire! I was worried last week that she might do that. When the ATT crew fixes it tomorrow I'll ask them to install the wire tighter to the stair rail where she won't be able to get to it.

In the future my plan is to get everything underground but that could be a few years before I get to that because it would coincide with a remodel / addition I want to do.

Beagles can be very frustrating pets. Escape from also anything when motivated, dig to china if they smell something and can be some of the most determined animals you'll encounter.

A couple years ago our termite people came and installed new bait traps around the house. Guy put 2 inside the back yard fence on perimeter of our porch. I told him they would not last, the Beagles would chew them up.
"I've never had a dog be able to get one out of the ground"
2 days later I called and asked if they could come replace the traps. Both were in the middle of the yard and chewed to pieces

Love my Beagles tho

Yeah, definitely check to see if you're going to be billed. I know if that happened to my Cox cable (Internet), I'm pretty certain I'd be charged for the repair.

I've spliced fiber before, it's easy but the machine is expensive lol, hopefully they can just replace the whole line. Good luck.

We were having a camp fire out on the patio the other night. Wife went into the house to grab more drinks. Found our 14 year old beagle on the bookshelf chewing on a book!

Pretty rare this happens at her age. We don't kennel our dogs when we are not home. We can be gone for 6-7 hours without any problems...

My site contractor dug through an unmarked fiber optic today.
Called in Locates, it was unmarked.
Killed the Internet in our Construction Trailer and all the business’ and homes in the neighborhood too.

lol @ comments!

The ATT tech came yesterday and replaced the wire in about 45 minutes. He had to rerun everything to the basement. This time it is stapled tight to the stair rail outside. Here are some pics of the damaged wire and new install. Yep it is a bit ghetto - eventually I'll do it the right way with underground conduit. Our other female beagle can be seen on the top step. She's not the one who bit through the wire, it was her sister because my wife literally caught her with the wire in her mouth lol!

With all due respect, were you just dying to start a thread today? lol
I had to jump through hoops to start the thread lol! ;)

How old is your Beagle?
They are both 11 months old. I know they can chew things up to about 2 years of age. After that they usually mellow out. We've had quite a few Beagles over the years.

Lol yes our back yard looks like the moon. They have dug holes everywhere. And destroyed quite a few things. They stay in a crate inside for now till they become civilized. I can't have them chewing through electrical wire lol!

The beagle that chewed the fiber optic wire also caught a bird yesterday the same day the tech was there to replace it! The bird was still alive but too badly injured and I had to get rid of it. As far as I know they already killed 3 birds. One bird they completely ate. They also caught a squirrel one day and my wife had to intervene. The squirrel was getting slammed back and forth on the ground from its tail - similar to Hulk smashing Loki in the Avengers. The squirrel escaped though after my wife's intervention and then picked up another squirrel and ran up a tree with it! I am waiting for the day they catch a raccoon, possum or cat. That should be interesting!

ATT may bill you for the damage
Over the phone I was told if it is outside the house they won't charge. The tech told me though that they will probably charge $99. He did not take my signature and noted in his file that I refused to pay. My argument would be why was the wire installed like that in the first place. I have found that ATT are willing to work with you. I'll be making the call to get the charge waived.

LOL! That's a good age! My wife had a beagle growing up and he lived for 18 years! She once caught one of our beagles running around with my wallet in the house. That same beagle also picked up a used condom in the street on one of our walks. They are game for anything.
