    ....it's a beige horse...

1986 base V6 coupe, low miles, rust free....

donor is an 88 GT with a rebuilt engine in it, Hurst shifter, Eibach suspension, etc. etc.

Gonna marry them and make the EFI work. The 86 is CFI EEC 4 so, we should have a starting point. I have full harness in both cars.

    Cool project.
I just helped swap a '93 cobra drivetrain into a clean '84 GT.
They may both be Foxbody but there were a ton of changes between years.

Yeah, that's why I'm going to try and keep as much of the 88 electrical stuff together and pull the unused 86 stuff. The marriage meets at the dashboard and column mainly, if I'm scoping this out right. Since I have EVERYTHING from the 88 and it all seems functional I can move whatever I need.

Cool mods on the donor 88 are a full eibach and KYB setup, electric fan, Energy engine and trans mounts, poly end links, Hurst Comp plus shifter, mini starter, adjustable quadrant and HD cable, 1 piece steel driveshaft (no torque tube). There is more in mods than I paid for the whole car! The engine is obviously rebuilt as it pushed 205-210 on all 8, closed throttle and cold. I opened the valve cover, pulled the upper mani and dropped the pan and it's spit shined in there; no goo on anything. The only downer is it is 2.73 car but, at least the TL works.

    Lots of progress....

    1986 Coupe by 5lho

    Got the 3.8 and V6 K out
    Got the 5.0 and V8 K out
Got my redneck engineering on to move these large masses around the driveway :)

Working on cleaning up the bay and setting up the wiring. This isn't going to be a Riddler car so, I am just making a running, driving, fun little package I'm not afraid to drive so, shoot a little spray paint here and there and call it a day. There are so many differences between the V6 and V8 car you might as well consider it completely different. Glad I got a donor.

LOTS has happened since last update. Car is completely assembled mechanically. It's a full 1988 GT underneath, K, suspension, brakes, driveline. I stripped back the wiring harness to the essentials to run the engine and left as much of the 86 wiring intact as possible. Latest stuff is the engine harness/ECM in, battery and starter connected, upper mani back on, vac lines done. All electrical sub-systems seem to work, lights, horn, signals, gauge lights, etc. Just figuring out out how to provide switched power to a few things....then, I guess it's roll it over and see if it starts!

She's got open headers right now and no cooling system installed for easy access but, I think I should roll it once I get the wiring done, just to confirm it works. This car is essentially built completely out of stuff from a JY so, some issues might be revealed.

It's the 86 PS pump from the car originally. I used to use V6 pump pulleys to underdrive the PS pump and get a little more road feel out of the 87-93 Foxstangs back in the day. This was already there on the car originally so, I just swapped it over and made the V6 bracket woork with a bit of fangling.
