Let me show you tq and hp. 2 examples.

Bugatti veyron has 987hp and 922tq. Has more torque than dodge demon, weighs a little more at 4400lbs, loses drag race to demon. 10.1@141 vs 9.65@140. 200lbs, gear ratios and drivetrain loss is why.

Here is a demon on 93 octane.

724whp. 681wtq. Very peaky power. Not much average whp in powerband. Needs short gearing, dodge obliged.

Here’s my stage 3 hci, 62’s, t56 5.3L modular ford spinning just to 7000. 91 octane, power is basically flat 800whp to 8000rpm.

813whp, 698wtq.

Compare both graphs. Demon has much more average wtq, but my build makes much more average whp in the race winning powerband.

See how torque, hp and rpm work now?

625tq at 7000rpm is better than 720tq at 5000rpm for racing.

I think gt500 will be a car ahead of demon both pump gas roll race 60-160. Let’s wait and see.

Race gas the demon should win a roll race, it would be sad if it lost.

Kaneda at the drag strip is where the torque makes most of the difference. With a high revving gt500 its easier to downshift and be in peak powerband. With the gt500 from any 45 mph roll and higher horsepower will make the biggest difference torque not so much. I am curious however to see the outcome of this race.

There’s a guy up here that runs 10.60@145 with a 550whp civic but his 60ft is high 1.8

His car puts buses on 600-700whp cars because it’s so light. I told him put a couple 45lbs plates on the front strut tower bars for traction haha
