Power windows & locks wont work when door is shut?

Any idea what the problem is.

where should i check.

The car has a alarm but it does not work the windows or doors. the alarm was not working then one day it started working.

the windows & door locks were working fine then all of a sudden they stop going up or down when the drivers side door is closed.

the pass door works the same way. only if the drivers side door is open.

Sounds like you have a short in the wiring, probably where it goes from the door to the main chassis of the car in the door jamb...

I have had the same problem before in two different 93 Mustangs. They would work fine with the door open but quit working when the door was shut.... it turned out to be a bad ground on the door harness.

The power for the pasenger door is looped through the drivers side door so thats why it also effects the pass. door when the drivers door is open or shut.
