That's the bad thing about pearl paints, they tend to be camera shy. My first time participating in a car show in 8 years. Came ill prepared, and my son had to suffer. I can stand and talk about the project for 8 hours, but my son was toast after 4 hours. He resorted to single 1 syllable sounds as a form of communication. Gonna have to remember to bring a couple folding chairs with the built in canopy.
After hearing that blue twin turbo drag car rev his engine, mine sounded like a Toyota Yaris in comparison. Definitely adding electronic exhaust cutouts to the list of stuff I need to do to the car.
I really enjoyed chatting with everyone that approached me.

I wonder if cutouts would sound more like a log truck without cams? Not saying that it would because I have never heard them on a stock engine.

Just got back from the Referee. The car passed on everything except for the visual on the intake pipe. I had to cut the intake pipe about 2 inches and clamped it together with a silicone boot. Just the fact that it had a silicon boot was grounds to fail it on visual. Wish BBK would hurry up and get their CARB EO# for the CAI soon. But for now, just need to find an unmodified stock intake pipe.

hey that's great, congrats! so the open element is going to be ok like that?

does the bar ref give you some kind of sticker for future smog once the car passes?

My understanding is that between the filter and the throttle body needs to remain stock of substituted with a CARB compliant unit.

Some things just recently ordered are the Pypes Electronic Exhaust cutouts and Power by the Hour Power steering conversion kit. Hopefully I'll have all this installed by Knotts.

Here's what I can tell you about what is required for a coyote swap to pass California smog.
I'll start from the back of the car to the front.

You will need a functional 99-04 fuel filler neck and gas cap.
The evap hard plastic lines and tank pressure sensor for the 99-04 tank
The smog canister and all of the soft and hard plastic lines.
Stock H pipe or CARB approved h pipe
Stock catalytic converters. Can not reshape the housing (Rear k member mounts will need to be shaved so only 1 bolt on each side secures it. This is for Cat clearence.)
Stock or CARB approved shorty exhaust
Vapor lines from the throttle body to the smog canister.
    AEM CARB approved intake pipe
Stock air box (only trim mounting tabs as needed. Some referees will say that any trimming is not allowed. It basically how they view the letter of the law)
The intake need to fit with the hood closed.
Also from the dealership they need the program code to verify that the program running is stock and not modified. CARB will run a scan tool to look to see yhis program number to make sure that the factory program is still there.

So to set a date to ask them what you need for smog with these guys will probably give you more information than what you need to truely pass smog.
For example: They told me that even the sound tube needs to be attached to the intake pipe and also connected to the fire wall.
When I got the AEM installation manual, it states to remove the sound tube. And there is no connections for this sounf tube on their CARB approved intake pipe.

Wow.. the quality of the work you've done is like no other. Amazing!! Are you willing to take on this project again for someone else? I'm trying to do a coyote swap for my 1988 Saleen Hatchback that I've had since my college years. I'm not mechanically inclined but definitely willing to hire the right person to do the job. I'm having trouble finding the right people to do the job. The last shop I had my car at totally bailed on me. I would like to get my car to be CA smog legal too which is what makes it so tough. I'm not far from Fremont, CA. I'm just on the other side of the peninsula. Any input would help.
