Just wondering what exactly the difference is between a short runner intake and stock length, pros and cons if there are any...anyways i was thinking about getting one sometime soon depending on my budget. Also getting cams, looking at the comp 106100's, I just havent decided whether to get them or an intake first. Will the intake produce better gains if i already have cams?

get both..then install both and get a tune.. check out roys thread over on mach1registry.com he has a new intake that should be getting some dyno tuning soon.. i have cams in my mach with stock runner length intake..its still falls on its face after 6500.. feels like it takes a year to get from 6500-7k.. i can post a vid if anyone would like to see.

i will make a vid this friday and post it.. stock runner length intake will peak around 6200 even with cams..and will start to choke the car off after that.. with a psri power will be up from 5k up and hold on to the power from 6200 up to 7k.. roys intake or these new psri intakes that have been taked about now are shooting for a shift point at 7k.. to keep it safe on a stock bottom end.

yeah im kinda iffy on shifting at 7k cuz i found out the hard way that our rod bearings aren't the strongest.

The runner length depends on what rpm range you're operating in. A ported stock length runner intake will produce more mid-range power and torque up to about 6500 rpms whereas the short runner will give you better power in the upper rpm range. The ported stock runner will outperform the ported short runner up until about 6400-6500 rpms but the stock runner will net you higher peak horsepower numbers on the dyno. So if you're planning on spending a lot of time at the track where you'll be running in the higher rpm's a lot more then go with the short runner but if not then go with the ported stock runner. Also the 106100s are a great combination with the ported intake. Don't waste your money on a more aggressive high lifting cam because you'll end up having to buy new valve springs as well. Our engines respond very well to increased duration so just go with the 106100's (so you can keep the stock springs) and have them degreed.
