    Hey SVTP

Made a pretty spur of the moment decision to pick up a fox body this weekend - little backstory:

For as long as I can remember, my old man and I have wanted a nice clean notchback. With other priorities and other cars taking up our time/interests, we never made the decision to actively search one down. We had an idea of a budget in mind and I would basically surf the listings here and there to see if anything worth chasing popped up, but that's about it. Lot of high mileage, rusty options up here in the northeast.

Then, last week a good friend who is also a member here (SonicBlur2003) notified us about a local car that may be hitting the market soon - once we heard the details the rest was history.

    Specs:
    1987 Original 5.0L LX
32k Miles - factory paint aside from the hood (underside was finished/cleared)
Factory "Power Delete" car (crank windows, no power locks & AC Delete)
... I didn't really appreciate the rarity of this until after we picked it up.

    - Stock shortblock
    - Trickflow heads & cam
    - Cobra upper & lower intake
    - BBK headers & CAI
    - 5 Lug conversion
    - 3.73 gears, etc.
    - Made 306/320 on a Mustang dyno

Here are a few iPhone photos for the time being. Will definitely be getting some quality photos once are out of winter!

Dang that looks clean & tight. Rare find.
Looks great with the stock appearance & the chrome wheels jive well with the black paint.
    Congrats

That is pretty sweet. What are you using to protect the front while on the trailer?

Looks good. Nice and clean. I’m in the process of restoring/modding my 1990 coupe.

That makes my pants tight. I looked at a black 93 coupe back in 2001 that the guy was looking for 3500 for it. 100k miles and needed paint work on the roof where the clear had cracked. Why cant I find one in that shape for that price now?...haha
Anyways, car looks awesome. Great find. 300 wheel in a coupe is a lot of fun.

Thank you all for the compliments!

The previous owner actually provided the stuff, I am definitely a fan though!
There may be a few sources but I do know that California Car Cover Co. sells it, called "Road Wrap Paint Protection Film"

Seriously, it seems like these cars are starting to appreciate the last few years. There have been a lot of record sales at auction across 2017/2018 and I don't expect them to get any cheaper.
Funny part is that the only notch I've ever been in was a bone stock automatic. Excited to see how it feels once on the road!

Nice find. Do you have the stock 10-holes it was born with?

No kidding, when I was 16 back in 04 me and my dad were looking at fox bodys for my first car in the $2-3000 range and had several to look at. We ultimately didn't find one exactly as nice as we wanted but there were several in that price range that were nice cars. I specifically remember looking at a blue 92 LX hatch with a brand new grey interior and a freshly rebuilt 302 with heads and cam work and full exhaust. It was beautiful and very very well kept, even the paint looked almost perfect. They were asking 5 grand, it was more than we had to spend so we passed but looking back I can't believe we passed on the deal.

Fast forward 10 years I had 5 grand burning a hole in my pocket and set out once again for a nice fox thinking I would have plenty to choose from, nope, not in that price range. Everything I looked at in that price range had a too many issues for me to take on. One day I will finally own one!

Definitely can relate to that - we remember seeing a few really nice ones back when I was 16 (circa 2007). We came across a 22k mile Notch that was pristine. The guy wouldn't budge below $10k, which felt high at the time but those stock lower mile examples are fetching mid-20s now.

We paid more than we ever expected paying for this one, but comparing it to others out there in the $13-$15k range, it was a no brainer.

The slushbox autos in those were garbage. My dad had an 88 vert with an auto. When I picked up my old 93 GT stick car it was night and day. Then when I put the trick flow heads and intake on it, it was a new beast again.
