Funny considering there is no trees in Greenland. So any wood has to be imported, something the Vikings found out first hand when they colonized it.

Yeah, but that's less painful than dealing with crooked businesses and poorly built houses in the South.

Sure. Why not. I can still ****post on SVTP from Greenland, right?

Arctic, no. But I lived in New England for 23 years. Several of those years, I had no heat. I was the guy that would be out shoveling snow in shorts and a t-shirt. I do far better in the cold than in the heat.

Trump ran into a speed bump. The Denmark PM called the idea "absurd", so the Prez cancelled/postponed his visit there.

"President Trump on Tuesday abruptly canceled a planned meeting with Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, saying there was no point to the trip after Frederiksen called the idea that the U.S. might buy Greenland from Denmark "absurd" -- and insisted there would be no Copen-haggling about it.

Trump had been expected to visit Denmark on Sept. 2-3 as part of his trip to Europe, but until his tweets Tuesday, there were no solid indications the visit to Denmark was centered on buying Greenland.

"Denmark is a very special country with incredible people, but based on Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen’s comments, that she would have no interest in discussing the purchase of Greenland, I will be postponing our meeting scheduled in two weeks for another time," Trump wrote.

"The Prime Minister was able to save a great deal of expense and effort for both the United States and Denmark by being so direct," he added. "I thank her for that and look forward to rescheduling sometime in the future!"

-20f was about as cold as I have experienced. I know arctic gets much colder. Southern Greenland summers are around 65-70f.

Just sitting at home, doing nothing but sitting on the couch in a 72f room, I over-heat. Living those few winters without heat in New England probably screwed me up somehow.

I got stuck in -50 before windchill, had to walk 2 blocks to the airfield in a light hoodie/jeans. Literally thought I was going to die. Haha
it has been a weak summer here so far this year too, but no fires...

Yikes. Yeah, I've never been in -50f. Even at -20f, that was an interesting experience. You breathe in and feel moisture in your nose, throat, and lungs crystallizing. Dryness at -50f must make your skin feel like it is on fire. I did ride a motorcycle in -7f one time, which was equally stupid and necessary (needed to get to the in-laws to help them with a burst pipe, my car was in the shop and I was working from home, all I had was my motorcycle...)

If/when I ever retire, I am getting a summer home back up in the New England area (or perhaps Greenland, heh). I struggle bad during the summer down here.

Someday I hope to experience it myself. There's something oddly alluring about a Northern Canada expedition, like Nunavut haha. I don't even think the roads get up that far, do they? Don't they just sort of end just North of Winnipeg?

It has this "man was not meant to venture this far" written all over it.

When it gets that hot out here, I sit in front of two fans with a frozen bag of peas on my head.

Just to go out in my garage earlier in the week, I put 10lbs of ice in a ziploc bag and stuffed it in a drawstring backpack. That lasted maybe 20 minutes. I also have a Froggtogg cooling towel that helps a little.

I am just the opposite. I can take the heat but not the cold. 90 degrees and 80% I have no problem with. below 68 I freeze.
