yes, i'm a jackass and put about a half a tank of 87 in my car. i only drive it on weekends and i'm used to putting 87 in my company car all week. out of habit i just pushed the wrong button. tried to siphon it out with no luck, so i ended up filling the rest up with 93. so i've got a 50/50 mix of 87 and 93 (90 blended oct).

car ran fine on the way home from the gas station. i was told to just be very easy on it until i run the tank out (which is what i plan to do). it's going to take me forever to get through a tank of gas since i only drive on weekends. wonder if a little torco would help?...hhmm

please don't tell me i'm the only fool who's done this?

Torco and you'll be good to go but for right now stay out of boost to avoid detonation.

Use ur hand held, take out 4* of timing, global, take a nice long easy cruis to burn off the fuel.

Torco. And STAY OUT OF BOOST. Detonation = no good in FI motors.

May suggest you drive it more often than on weekends to get the fuel out....:D

Even though the average is 90oct. that actual is a bit higher, I know that when you mix different octane fuel the low number is bumped higher. I don't know how much. If it's a 93 tune and now it's 91oct... I personally don't think it's a big deal. The tune is not, or shouldn't be on the edge of detonation. Some octain boost should help.

i put exactly 6 gallons of 87 in with the rest being 93 in a 16 gallon tank. that means about 60% of what's in the tank is 93.

i'm trying to find some torco, but haven't had any luck at the local shops. for now, the plan is to do some easy cruising until i'm on E.

stkjock, probably a good idea but i'm just not comfortable/familiar doing that.

You've got at least 91 or better in the tank, I wouldn't drag race or red line it on a 98' high humidity day.....but it really should be fine. Who knows if 93 pump gas is really 93, It's not aviation fuel or race gas where it's held to a stricter standard. Your tune should not be on the edge of a couple octane points. When I first took delivery of my 2008 I already had the SCT proracer software and I loaded a 93 tune when I got home (The car was used and had 1300mi, a 62yr old Shelby enthusiast owned it.) I had knock at 3200rpms, I knew the dealership put 87oct in. At half tank I filled it with 93 and the detonation went away. There's a lot of room in the timing of these cars, with 9psi of boost, and the usual bolt on's, I am safely running 23.8' of total timing.(stock data log's at 20') That's on an 75'-80' deg day. I'm not saying everyone shouldn't run the best pump gas that's available in their area, I'm just saying not to worry.

Not a big deal iwannacobra5. No reason to mix octanes or go to the expense of putting a can of Torco in the tank, ($22 through Amazon per can, free shipping ,BTW). You can still drive the car and even have fun. Just be sensible with accelerations and like others have said, stay out of boost. Others have done this and it's not the end of the world. Be smart.

I wouldn't let that mistake eat at me. Run it down to about 1/8 tank and fill it back up. Me personally, I'd take it to the nearest interstate and go about 120 miles out and come back and refill it. I actually did this same thing in one of my Z06's and did just that. I was worried that it would screw things up so in one day I fixed it. But, as advised, stay out of boost.

Not a big deal. The knock sensors will do their job if it starts to detect knock/detonation as long as the tuner didn't turn them off in the tune. I wouldn't beat on the car but I wouldn't be watching the boost gauge like a worry wart either.

No knock sensors in an early '10.

If he put in Torco then why would he have to also stay out of boost. Why the two orders?

This reminds me of A Few Good Men.

"If you gave an order that Santiago wasn't to be touched, and your orders are always followed, then why would he be in danger, why would it be necessary to transfer him off the base?"
"...why the two orders?"

The mixture in your tank is 90.75 octane. Someone here said 91 so they were pretty much dead on.

6(87) + 10(93) / 16 = 90.75

C-16 is leaded fuel.

1 gallon of leaded fuel isn't going to hurt anything. But there's always unleaded 110.

Yeah he could drive it and stay out of boost but how many miles does he get to a tank of gas? 150 - 200? Who wants to drive their GT500 around for 200 miles and not get in the boost?

After you run our 1/2 a tank fill it up with 93 and you'll have 91.8 octane. or wait till you get down to a 1/4 and fill it up then you'll have 92.4.

Yea I was bored...
