I'm taking a writing assessment for school and am not 100% sure what the first three steps are in the diagnostic procedure.
1.) Communicate with customer and verify concern with vehicle
2.) Test vehicle and verify that there is a malfunction or problem
3.) Identify the possible systems that could be at fault

I would like a little feedback from someone who works as a technician

Your on the right track.

1) Note customer complaint
2) Try to replicate complaint to verify.
3) Track down the source of the problem using a process of elimination
4) Try to fix problem to validate that it takes care of customer complaint
5) Test drive to further eliminate possibilities(you dont want the customer to leave and come right back)

If you find other problems take a note about it but handle to customer complaint first.

Most of the time a customer will be notified when the fault is found, before any repair is done. Just to give them a heads up on costs to fix it.

What the above guys said. However, if you're writing a paper or dealing with a customer... it's a "concern" not a "complaint".

Holy shit! So you mean to tell me Ford's hotline doesn't use actual techs, just some guy that sits behind a computer all day and read bulletins and manuals? :lol1: I knew it!
