OK...ok....I know this isn't a "Terminator" specific thread, but I searched all over the site for some specific discussions on detectors and which are the best. I figured this would be the forum to post the question in since you guys are at the top of the Cobra food chain :D and surely have the need for one. So, I am curious, what are you guys running and/or what are your reccomendations?

I was driving about 80 and in this car it does not feel like 80, i am used to a truck. I am on a strecth of 50 mph road and come around a corner. My radar detector went NUTS, so I slammed on the brakes to about 60 mph and look up ahead and see a cop in the bushes!!! A truck flies past me, must have been doing 80 too. The cop didnt pull out after either of us. If i didnt have my radar detector, I would have flown past hm at 80mph... PHEW!!!!

Get the Escort Solo S2, its a great unit!
Check ebay for a deal...

ValintineOne is number one I us them in all my cars as the ad says once you drive with the arrows no other protector wil do. They are expensive but man its nice to know where the cop is with the arrows and of course its paid for it self in a month like most. It shows you if you have one in front on the sides and behind you or both. Escort is my next choice but I drove a while with it and man I missed the arrows I didn't know where the cop was and believe me its real nice feature to have that way Ican tell what I need to do like if its behind me and the strangth bar is showing weak I can speed up and have a chance to get ahead of him or if its strong I know I need to slow down because hes to close and I haven't had to send one back yet and have one thats about 9yrs. old and it comes with a hard wire kit.

V-1. No question. As said before, the arrows will get you hooked.

You are also able able to disable certain bands. For example, I have disabled the X band. No cop uses them anymore (except for the automated signs "Your speed is..."). It has cut way down on false signals.

The troopers here in Georgia use instant on when they are rolling. It's nearly as deadly as laser. No detector should be viewed as a license to speed. It's just a reminder. Besides, when they are hidng and using laser, that little black box just becomes a "Ticket Detector".

Be careful and don't use your little head to think, use your big head to think when driving fast.

Valentine 1 is the best period! Worth the money in my opinion. I don't leave home without it.

Yep.
If it doesn't incorporate, or supplement a laser jammer, it's just a matter of time before it becomes a 'ticket detector'.

I had radar detectors for years and always thought about the Valentine but always went the cheaper route. I finally coughed up the cash for one about two years ago and I'll never have anything else. It gives you so much more meaningful information about what's out there. There are others that have comparable range/sensitivity/etc., but NONE have the arrows or the bogey counter. That is what sets it apart from everything else out there. It does take a while to get used to just because it offers so much more information, but after a month or so, it becomes second nature to decide how to react.

I wanted the V-1, but couldn't justify the cost since I work with law enforcement and have only been pulled over once. I ended up with the Cobra 9860. So far no major false alerts, except under the bridges between the hospitals. lol But it has gotten me to slow down in time to not get a ticket. Works for what I need. Good luck to you.
