Radiator drain petcock issue

Drained the rad today and snapped the end of the stock radiator drain petcock using a 3/4" box wrench.

Was able to open it to drain with an allen wrench. I'm guessing the allen wrench will shut it all the way as well. Turning it looser didn't seem like it would come out 100% of the way.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

Once you get the rest of the threaded peacock out and it feels really loose you should be able to pull it out, an o ring is preventing it from coming out on it's own. Check out these youtube video's for some ideas....​

They are prone to breakage if your not careful. I know!!

Thought breaking 1 of these was a right of passage !!

Heat's going to break them all down eventually. May be a good proactive item to replace before it breaks.

Mine broke a few years ago, I bought a new one from Ford (actually two). There were two "finger' pieces on the upper end of mine that allowed it to drop but not come out. I used a small screw driver to press one of the finger tabs inward and allowed it to fully drop out.

Easy enough fix, have a spare comin from our buddy Mike at Autonation White Bear Lake.

Hadn’t seen a drain petcock like this before, but I’m used to the Fluidyne on the Terminator.
