Bob's Big Boy was/is my favorite hamburger evah! We had a Jack in the Box and a Burger Chef near us that looked just like those too.

I know you guys don't care and most won't know what I'm talking about, regardless...

Tropopause is where the troposphere meets the stratosphere. On average, the tropopause is around 60,000 ft at the equator and around 20,000 ft at the poles (colder air is more dense than warm air). Yesterday, there were upper air soundings from Minnesota suggesting that the tropopause was around 2km (which is about 6500ft). That's crazy

...and Maximus said to Commodus, "the time for honoring yourself will soon come to an end."

I felt it.

The other dragstrip post got me to thinking back. Spent many a weekend at OCIR in the 60's-70's. Was there opening night and there when it closed down. Crazy good times specially when they had the funny car manufactures championships. Back then the Fords ran ford engines, Chevy ran chevy engines and mopar the 392 Hemi.

Great photos, Clay. California was loaded with great drag racing tracks back in the day, whereas here in Connecticut we had just one. Especially southern Cal. Did you ever go to Lions Drag Strip in Long Beach (a block or so from my old Long Beach Naval Station)?

Here's a shot of some action outside Lion's. LOL. Keith Black's shop wasn't far from Lion's, and Keith was a regular at the track.
