Its 5 degrees out here right now and the water is completely frozen. Boats are pulled usually in November.
Standard procedure here, too. My friend has a 40’ sailing yacht that is docked near New London for the summer and then in October he sails down to South Carolina and docks it there for the winter. All of our marinas here are pretty much empty. I wonder how marinas are, though, in South Carolina with the cold weather fronts they’ve seen, along with the snow. My wife’s friend lives in South Carolina and she mentioned to my wife this morning that they got 3” of snow last night.

My uncle used to have a sailboat at that marina in the picture too, Burnham Harbor. Cost his ass a fortune every year to park it there and remove, and you only get like a good 3 months of use out of a boat every year in Chicago because of the water temps... End of June till about end of Sept is perfect boating weather though on Lake Michigan.

It just isn't worth it though unless you are super rich. Boating in general in Illinois is a PITA, i sold mine years ago, and my jetskis i used to really be into. Too expensive for only a few months of use.

Oh, wow, that is sad news. Three Dog Night was one of my favorite bands back in the ‘70s.
