I am debating on the Focus ST vs. Fiesta ST. My main reason for getting one is to have an economical, yet fun, car to drive around in for errands. Right now my most economical ride is a '08 F350 diesel with the emission crap removed. What kind of MPG are you guys seeing?

Consistently between 24.5 - 25.5 mpg, around town. The few times that I get on a highway, it goes up from there.

While I have never driven a Fiesta ST, I will venture to guess it will feel underpowered. It's about 400lbs lighter than the Focus ST, but it has 55 less horsepower.

The Fiesta has about 13.09 lbs per 1 horsepower while the Focus has 12.5 lbs per 1 horsepower.

The gas mileage won't be much different, because the Fiesta has the smaller Ecoboost compared to the Focus. The 1.6L Eco will have to 'work harder' than the 2.0L Eco in order to drive the same. A lot of people that have purchased Escapes and Fusions with the 1.6L are upset because they are not getting the advertised gas mileage, while the people in the 2.0L's are much happier.

    Just my $0.02.

I took a long, 90% highway trip and got about 28 MPG. Daily around town I get anywhere from 22-24.

Damn, what the hell are you guys doing? Lol. I average between 27-29mpg driving to work and dropping my kid off at daycare.

My running average on my current tank is parked at 28.3. I've seen as much as 34hwy at steady cruise when I reset the meter for a ride up the road once.

Doug, I will warn you..gas mileage is heavily dependent on your right foot. While I"m averaging 27-29mpg, if I let my wife drive, it's more like 24-26, but she is heavier on the gas than I am. The real key is to keep out of boost as much as you can, as soon as the turbo starts spooling, it will drink gas.

As Fishtail said depends on how I drive, running sort of hard... shifts 3-4000 rpms 25-26. Short shift at less that 2000 rpms I will get 28-29. Mixed driving 60/40 hwy/city with a SCT tune, Buschur Racing filter and run 93 octane. I usually mat it a few times per tank.

A really well balanced fun little car... makes an awesome DD imo

Yeah doug, Mike is a big VAG. If he could get away shifting at 1000rpm he would. lol

When he told me the mileage he was getting my first question was what rpm are you shifting at. Unfortunately with only 80 miles on the car I can't report mileage. I can say that the car only had 4 miles on it when I bought it yesterday and the trip monitor, which I think is the same thing Mike is looking at started at about 12mpg when I bought it. when I came home today it was up to 19.6 and has steadily climbed since I bought it. I know my bmw 330ci would start out high and then drop and stabilize. Seems like the focus is the opposite and increases slowly.

I am trying to shift low to help increase the mileage, but at the same time I want to break in the motor and being a vag like mike is not the best thing to do for break it. So I have gotten into it a few times here and there and just tried varying the rpm range.

Oh yeah, some people are reporting increased mpg after adding the larger intercooler and tune.

I need to get this thing broken in so I can put it on the dyno for some base runs.

Is everyone using 93 octane fuel? I am a very spirited driver so my MPG is low so I wont even say, lol. But it get better MPG then any car I have owned in the last 6year. Especially my last truck!

I wish I had been able to find the time to ride in the Fiesta ST at Superfest last weekend. Everyone I spoke with said the Fiesta was more fun to ride in and handled better than the Focus. The power to weight difference is really not that far apart and can surely be made closer with a tune and intake. Heck my track car is only 12.5:1.

As far as the Escapes go, I have one with the 2.0. I have not hand calculated the mileage, but right now it is around 22.4mpg. That is a far cry from what I thought I would get. The car sees a mix of city/hwy, so I expected around 25. Ford rates it 22 city/30hwy.

No, I'm running on 87 so far. And I should have mentioned that it's warm here, so I've been running the AC regularly, which I know is keeping my mpg down.

I am also running the a/c and I realize I never reset the trip from when I brought the car. I did it yesterday and filled the tank. I went on a little over or more 100mile drive with some friends and I got 25.6 MPG with a mix of highway and city driving. Not bad!

Can't compare a modded car to stock car. Put the intake and tune on the focus as well and it is totally different. You have to test both equally. People are easily in the 320+ whp range with intake and tune, maybe intercooler upgrade as well on the focus.

Im right at 24.2 MPG. Only about 2 mile of an 8 mile trip is 55 mph the rest is 35 mph and 9 lights.

Still better than the 16 I was getting in the Mustang and a lot more fun to drive in this environment.

LOL, I shift at 2500 most of the time when poking around. Tease if you like, but I'm getting good gas mileage. I'm at half a tank now, and my average on this one is just over 29. It's kind of becoming a game anymore.

But I beat the hell out of it for the first 1500 miles or so, my running average for the first several tanks was under 20. I was running it at various RPM's, WOT, half throttle, taking it to redline, etc. I wanted to make sure I got the rings seated properly. I didn't start poking it around until after the 1500 mile mark. I still stab the throttle a couple times a week now, but that's about it..and that's usually when I'm passing some idiot that's driving 10 under the limit on Marshal Corner Road.

:D I am getting about 25mpg trying to hit it a lot, but my drive to work is cruising most of the time, so whenever possible I am on it. Have about 500 miles on the tank now and will do an oil change this week. Although I am waiting on the blackstone kit to come in.

If you would have called to let me know you were in PF I could have brought you one of my several Blackstone kits that I keep on hand and we could gotten a bite instead of you sitting in Platinum Sounds 10x10 showroom.

LOL. It seemed still a bit far from you. I thought I remember you being a lot further away still and figured on a friday you were working.

That said, I am going to be back there Saturday at 2pm for them to redo a window or two and if I don't have the test kit yet I will need one. I just crossed 500 miles yesterday.
