It's going from MM in California to a shop in North Carolina to get powder coated Oxford White. Then will get shipped to me in Ohio.

May was an extremely busy month. But not for the Cobra. I'm am a photographer as well and I was running around alot doing multiple events. On the Cobra side. K member has left Maximum Motorsports for its next stop, then should be on its way to me. That means we will be much closer to getting a tube front end on the car and then from there it's just the rear end and quiet a few small things and it will start to look like a Terminator again.

*Edit*
Would upload a photo but the files are to big and it won't let them be posted as it's above 24.4 MB just for the one photo.
It's very easy to reduce the size of the photos you want to post. I usually resize my iPhone photos to something like 1000X750 or 800X600.

My k member is in North Carolina to get powder coated then when it gets here il install it.

Had a another event. When I'm not working on the Cobra, practicing welding, or sleeping, I'm doing photography. Automotive, motorsports, portraits and people, sometimes all in one day.

This builid is all over the place but with you mentioning possibly going very custom, I would install the Kmember and do a total mock up of the car before powder coating the Kmember.

I'm building a Godzilla swapped 64 Falcon and am running an AJE kmember. I've modded the Kmember, reinforced it, and currently just have some black rattle can sprayed on it. In theory its ready for final paint/powder coat but until the build is finished who knows what may end up getting changed, or if I want a tab/mount welded on somewhere I don't want to mess up the finish.

After talking with Maximum Motorsports the K member won't need any changes, I'm not changing anything on the bottom rails just a tube front end. And tube k member and after talking with professionals about chassis ballance vs weight if anything is gonna be modified it will be the rear IRS cradle that yes will get powder coated after mock up.

Had an chance to get a MKVIII with an engine for $300 and a set of 9 threads for another $100. They will both require work but are a good start to building an engine for the far. Engine ran and had a intake gasket leak. Time got in the way as the were fixing as well we are college students. Was almost back to running when I got (just needed to hook up vacuum lines but they had lost some fittings.) Was an easy way to score a block and heads. Both well be machined before being used.

Got the K member party installed but don't want to fully tighten everything as I'd figured the cut point for the tube front end seems to be before the end of the Maximum Motorsports K members mounting surface and so il need to remove it to cut the front end. Ultimately it can be worked around. I may need to cut some bent sheet metal and then add fresh to get it back to the length needed from the tube front end.

Edit:
After speaking with the tube front end manufacturer. I found out I will need to cut at the pink line.

The thought is. Will I need loose rigidity due to cutting the tube front before the end of the k member. I'm thinking about a C channel box around it to extend it to where it can still have full contact with the frame rail and k member.

Edit: talked with maximum motorsports and they said I need to do something to keep the K member in full contact to keep it structurally sound. If not we are worried it may be at risk of buckling.

Il be running a strut tower brace as well so not too worried.

So you’ve done nothing since July. But the tube front end mnf told you to cut behind your bent front end. Good plan. I’ll check back in another year for when you are deciding to tighten the rack or not to the K member.

Yeah, it’s one thing to spend all this time and money but is it even a viable car when done. To me it doesn’t look like it

You tell me it's a bad idea. I don't quit, make progress when I can, and yall tell me to quit. I go silent and make a bit more progress... the cycle repeats
See yall in a few months.✌️

Ps:
This ain't about time or money let alone resale.

It's about the journey in doing something myself. Not many people can say they have rebuilt an 03 Cobra from nothing in their garage. The money can be replaced. The memories and friends made along the way are what keep this alive. It's made opportunities that yall don't yet know about possible. I owe it to this car to finish it.

I reminded of a line from a film, "Yeah. Yeah, but your scientists were so preoccupied with whether they could that they didn't stop to think if they should."

I really do hope you get what you want out of this.
