Replacing stock TOB retainer…have a ?

Looking to replace the stock TOB retainer with a LP piece. The T-56 already had the input shaft replaced with a 26-spline D&D piece. Will I need to check for proper end play on the input shaft? Or will I just need to R&R the retainer? What do you use to seal the transmission case?

I've done a search but most replaced the input shaft along with the retainer, not the retainer alone.

I did the same but keepîng the OEM input shaft. I think that not changing the shaft itself wont change the end play cause it uses hard shims, so as long you keep the same shims in the same place you should be fine.

I resealed mine with some good black RTV.

All you need to do is swap the TOB sleeve and reseal with RTV.
