I have a 42" Deere. Their 3-in-1 blades suck. I've been using Gator high lift mulching blades. I mulch in May and October. The rest of the summer I side discharge. If it's a hay field after the first cut then I'll let the grass dry for a couple hours, put the mulching cover back on, raise the deck height up 2 notches and mulch in the clippings. Occasionally I'll bag to put in the garden or feed the compost pile. I also mulch up all the leaves in November.

I used to run these on my old Deere, great blades. I can't get them for my mower unless I buy them from Cub Cadet (rebranded and painted yellow) and pay their crazy prices. I even went to Oregon who makes them, no go.
