We don't have Redline here in Oz as far as I am aware.

Any good synthetic 5w-30. Done. Don't overthink it. RP is way overpriced honestly... Mobil1 is more than fine.

    #694,

Yes, the 18 speed is like an off-road version of the 13-speed. Very helpful when you are in deep mud and steep hills. I worked in the Alberta oilfields until I retired.

Thought so, I drove a 15 speed for 1M miles. We needed the deep reduction for heavy wagons. Sorry for the derail Steve.

Film strength is not as good as an equivalent quality 30/40w.

Plus Ford switched to 5w-20 to help meet the mpg standards. Nothing changed from 99 when 5w-30 was specced.

As mentioned, the modular engines originally came a 30Wt oil which is ideal. Brand is your choice, and "best" is always a matter of opinion. If you have doubt as to how good your oil is, find a place where you can submit samples and get a report run (Blackstone is popular in the US and I use them after every change).

There is some good oil discussion in this build thread, with my new aluminum block engine actually getting Mobil1 0W-40 which is one of their better products:

    Aluminator Gibtec Build

Also some good info here: Engine

Depends on your definition of "changing". Went two years on my new engine, albeit with under 1,000 miles, and the sample was as good as the previous one that was cycled in just a year. With only about 500 miles a year, have no problem going every other year (and with a quality oil). Buddy of mine went four years on his last change - again with low miles - and the sample looked perfect.

Idiotic. Plenty of people use all kinds of different filters with no issue.

If you have decent skills behind the wheel, it's easy. Have driven in the UK and Ireland on some roads that barely qualified as roads and had a ball. Would always rent a manual transmission car when driving on the wrong side of the road!
