Older news from April.

I wouldn't say no to a C2. I like the design a lot more than the Tesla Roadster. Yes it is a lot more expensive but still. It will be interesting to see how they compare performance wise because Tesla has claimed their Roadster can do 0-60 in under 2 seconds - comparable with the Rimac C2.

EV specialist Rimac has announced plans to build a new € 200 million base in Croatia, claiming that the site will turn into a mass-produced drivetrain and battery manufacturer.

Construction is scheduled to begin later this year in the suburbs of Zagreb and will open in 2023. Featuring two separate buildings for R & D and production, it makes a space for more than 2500 employees and it a “unique and spectacular place”.

Designed by Croatian architectural firm 3LHD, the headquarters includes test tracks, battery testing and production facilities, command centers, staff relaxation lounges, restaurants, gyms, game rooms, showrooms, museums, kindergartens and individual accommodation “pods”. Hosts visitors overnight.

Efforts are being made to integrate this project (one of the largest in Europe) into the surrounding landscape. The plan includes a roof garden, an “urban swamp” and a green space with grazing livestock.

“Just 10 years ago, this company was just me sitting in my garage and thinking about the best way to develop electric cars and components,” said founder and CEO Mate Rimac. “We have now reached the stage where we need to build a long-term home in Croatia. That is the Rimac campus.

“The project’s top priority was to create the best possible working environment for our employees, allowing visitors and the general public to enjoy the space and interact with Rimac employees.

“Campus is the starting point for a growth plan over the next decade or more, a leading tier 1 supplier of electrical performance technology to niche hypercar makers, the world’s largest automakers, and a pioneer in the world. Strengthening. Autonomy and mobility. “

Rimac is partly owned by Hyundai, Kia and Porsche, so there is a “top secret” project room to take on the work of other companies. The company claims that the base will be completely carbon-neutral.

Founded in 2009, Rimac has built a reputation as the world’s fastest electric hypercar maker, albeit in very small quantities. Concept One made its production debut in 2016, followed by the lighter and more powerful Concept S.

Its latest creation-1888bhpC_Two- Delivered to customers in 2021..In addition, Rimac supplies the powertrain used in Future Pininfarina Batista..

WTH lol! I found the link via a search about Rimac. What I just noticed is if you scroll down the page it changes the URL at the top to that Ramadan story while keeping the Rimac piece above it. However if you then copy the URL and paste it in a new browser window it only loads the Ramadan story and wipes out the Rimac piece. I knew London was already a Muslim haven but did not realize it was this bad!

That site is messed up. If you scroll down slowly with Chrome and then up again it keeps the Ramadan URL at the top. If you scroll down and up fast to the Rimac story it does restore the Rimac URL. Here's a screenshot of the URL error.

Mate Rimac has an interesting story.

Mate Rimac - Wikipedia

Early life
Rimac was born in Livno, modern-day Bosnia and Herzegovina in 1988 to Zdenka and Ivan Rimac. As the war in former Yugoslavia broke out in 1991 and his birthplace being hit by the war, Rimac's family moved to Frankfurt, Germany when he was three years old.[14] Rimac lived in Germany until 2000 when he moved, together with his family, to Samobor, Croatia where his father founded a real-estate company.[15]

Early in his life, Mate was known as an innovator. Moving from Germany to Croatia, Rimac has admitted that it was hard for him to adapt and keep up in school. He was bullied for having a Bosnian accent and not speaking Croatian well.[16] However, Rimac was fascinated by cars and technology and was working in his parent’s garage on his own projects. During high-school, Rimac’s professor and later mentor, Ivan Vlainić, convinced him to participate at a local competition for electronics.[17] Mate did not have high hopes as he was not great at school but nevertheless, he won the first prize. After that, Mate has competed on a national level, where he has also achieved the best result, which lead him to represent Croatia in global competitions for electronics and innovation.
