I haven't seen this posted before...a guy at work put a deposit down one one and it was the first time I'd heard about it.
Rivian R1T
From the stats...looks pretty cool?
750hp 14,000nm torque (10,325 ft/lbs...? can that be right?)
400 mile range on a charge and tows 11,000lbs. (but I'm sure the range is shortened drastically while towing)
I hate the look of the SUV...but the truck...meh, not tooooo bad?

Looks like base price is $69K...and I'm sure fully loaded will be over $80K...but anymore...it takes a lot to give me sticker shock on a 1/2 ton truck these days...My 2018 XLT F150 stickered @ $49,700 and it doesn't even have leather...

Electric Adventure is here.

The torque output must be through some form of gear multiplication.

I remember when it debuted, it has potential to sell decently well.

I love the looks, styling and especially the interior. Looks like it's going to perform great as well. Pretty badass to me.

Blows the Tesla away in looks department.

The concept is awesome, lineup looks fantastic.

Dumb question - they’re marketing an electronic device, to people who are wanting to go off the grid for a bit? Outdoorsy types right?

So how does one charge their truck 100+ miles from the nearest outlet?

Stay within 400 miles of an outlet I guess lol.

Most people don't drive that far out to get to places anyway. It probably won't be long before Moab has superchargers, if they don't already.

Great question!! Hmmmm....probably because its really built for guys like me...who level their trucks, put on 33" all terrains or mud tires....and NEVER leave pavement!!!

So he’s child’s play compared to me......maybe my little brother?
Oh man!! I WISH my truck was your's little brother... Mine is basically stock...'18 Silver 5.0, 3.73, XLT Sport, 2.25" level, 305/55/20 BFG's on Platinum wheels with 1.25" bora spacers.
I can't help it...I restored a '79 K10 years ago and took it wheeling...and found mud in random places for years later. Never again!

I will definitely get a full report from my coworker who has the deposit on the R1T. I'm curious if the deposit was on a specific optioned truck...or just a place in the ordering line?

The truck looks awesome from the stats, hope it performs well.
While it doesn't have the 600+ mile range of my F150 with the large gas tank, with a proper plan for the trip I think one could have some pretty epic adventures with the range it has.

I actually like it, but being battery is concerning for an "adventure" truck. Taking it into the mountains, dunes, etc, I would always be overly worried about running out of battery as most live 1-2 hours from such locations if not more. I can (and do) carry a 5 gallon jug of gas/diesel just in case. This, I would carry a generator?

Being in BFE will have limited options, if they offered an auxiliary battery you could carry and swap (even if it was only enough for 100 miles), would have a lot more peace of mind.

You could potentially built your own solar setup that you could stake into the ground and maybe charge at 50 miles per day or so if the sun was out.

I haven't done any math, just thinking out loud.

First off I’ll say, I love the power, the high end interior and the fact that people are risking so much on this.

Then my brain says... Hold up! Ford just announced a 2020 electric F150.
Ford and all the other truck manufacturers have 100 years of experience, engineering, customer base/loyalty and engineers that know exactly what will happen in every situation that vehicle will find itself in.
These guys appear to be starting from scratch.
As a self made entrapenure I can’t imagine the balls on these guys to jump into the deep end like this. That’s massive balls.
I don’t see it going far however.
100% wish them the best and wanted to try one... until I heard the E F150 was coming. Then I thought, wow, that was over fast.
Ford will pull their nose out of their ass.

Panel would need to be the size of the bed at minimum I would think. Swappable battery sounds less of a headache. Having worked and explore in remote areas, I like minimizing being stranded, lol.
