Royal Purple Monthly Tech Thread Contest

We’re pleased to announce that SVTPerformance has partnered with Royal Purple to bring all SVTP members a chance to win some free high quality oil and filters. Every month the members of SVTP will get to vote for the best tech thread created that month. The winner of the contest will receive a free case of Royal Purple motor oil and two of their brand new Royal Purple oil filters.
The contest will work this way. Once every month an SVTP staff member will post a new thread in the Road Side Pub forum. In that thread members will be able to nominate a qualifying thread or article they posted the previous month. Nominations will be allowed for specified number of days. At that time, a member of the SVTP staff member will create a poll where the SVTP members can vote on the submissions for that month. The poll will be open for about two weeks. The thread that gets the most votes will be the winner. The original poster (“OP”) of that thread will receive a twelve quart case of Royal Purple motor oil and two Royal Purple oil filters. We may also post a copy of the winning thread on the frontpage of SVTP.
So, what kind of threads will be eligible for the contest? We are looking for threads with a high level of technical content. This could be anything from a thread showing a step-by-step build up of a car or engine. It could describe how to apply the perfect wax job, or it could be an install article/review/comparison of parts. It could even be a description of drag racing or open track driving techniques or setups. Suffice it to say, nearly any kind of quality tech posted on SVTP will qualify.
So, next comes the question of how you should vote. It’s pretty simple. The winning thread should be the one you feel contributes the most to SVTP. You should vote for the thread that you find most helpful and that you think will be the most helpful to others. The thread you vote for does not necessarily have to pertain to the vehicle you own. Instead, you should give your vote to the thread that you feel best enhances the vast technical stores of SVTP.
In order to nominate a thread you must be the OP of that thread. The thread must have been started in the in the time period that will be listed in the above mentioned thread that will be created by an SVTP staff member. For the first few months of the contest the time period will extend back to the inception of SVTP. However, after that initial months have past we will limit the threads that will be eligible to those that were created more recently. We are imposing these time restrictions for two reasons. First, we want users who have contributed valuable technical information in the past to have a chance to be rewarded for their efforts. Second, by narrowing the window for eligibility as the contest progresses we hope to encourage even greater participation in the SVTP community.
This is the first time we have attempted to put an ongoing contest like this together so I’m sure there will be a bit of a learning curve for us all to keep this running fairly and efficiently.
