Sorry to hear about your motor. Don't beat yourself up over it. Simple mistake. Just how it goes sometimes in hot-rodding.

I like the attention you went to with depinning the main engine harness connnector. I don't know how you resisted the urge to just put them all into a small, simple duetsch connector, though. Maybe I'm an odd duck but having that huge connector for 5 wires would drive me insane.

Yup..this shit happens when working alone.
You just get exhausted and make mistakes, especially when checking your own work.

It could have been worse if someone was "helping" you..just stay rested and put less on your plate each day.

Every mistake is a chance to gain a new skill.

You will have to teach yourself everything.
You will have to do everything yourself.
You will.
Everything.

Thanks for all the kind words! I appreciate it. I tried to buy a couple different replacement engines the last 2 weeks. Upon further inspection, one had the block welded from what looked like a rod exiting stage left.

The other seemed too good to be true for $3200 shipped.

I sent the payment via PayPal, but they instantly refunded my payment and deleted their account. Lol

I decided to pull the engine, so I can see the extent of the damage (should have time after 4th of July weekend).

I found Boss heads and GT350 heads but I need to research if they’re worth the extra money. I’ve given myself an all-in budget of $3500 for repairs.

Had some free time, so I decided to stop looking for replacement engines and inspect mine. First time pulling an engine from below on jack stands and it was a little tricky working solo.

Bought and engine plate to support from above while I disconnected the suspension, etc.

Used some scrap wood to connect 2 furniture dolly’s

Slid the dolly under the car and lowered to engine and k-member assembly on it

The engine was leaning forward so I used a ratchet strap to level it out

Here’s where it got a little sketchy. Needed to get the car up high enough to slide the motor out so I used 2 jack stands under the rear axle, 2 under the rear SFC’s & 2 6-ton near the front.

Pulled all the accessories off and went to remove the harmonic bolt and the engine started to spin. :whaaatttt:

Rotated the engine clockwise and it’s spinning freely now, not making any noises.

Had to call it a night. Next opportunity I’ll remove the oil pan, inspect the oil and cylinders. If all good, I’ll do a leak down and take it from there. :fingers crossed:

Inspected the cams and spot checked the rod bearings. Everything looked fine, so I reinstalled the engine and it fired right up. Ran really smooth, but there was some white smoke. The smoke disappeared after running a bit. I assume it was the MMO burning off. I wanted to know if it was going to blow, so I found an open road and jumped on it. Spun the engine to 7500 rpm multiple times and it took it without an issue. I cannot explain why or how it seized, but I’m not mad. Decided to remove the oil filter relocation kit and ordered some bushings to relocate the sway bar to clear the oil filter.

During the process I removed (1) 1/2” k-member spacer, adjusted the coil overs (raised 1/4”), added spacers to the transmission crossmember (per the Stiffler’s instructions) and was pleased to discover the engine cover and strut tower brace fit under the hood.

Went for 100+ mile cruise today and the car ran flawlessly. The AC drive belt was torn in half when I reinstalled the engine and started it up a few weeks ago. I didn’t hear anything and noticed the belt after I returned from the first test drive. The belt, tensioner and pulleys are brand new. I’m wondering if the AC compressor is locking up intermittently and the belt pressure is what was holding the engine in place.

Looks great. Love the Mystics.
My AC co.lressor just clicks on for a second and then shuts off again. Wish I knew what was wrong with it hahaha

This thread needs some life!!!

The next few posts will be of parts as they come in. Hint none of these parts are because the existing parts are worn out.

First up better clutch and 26 spline for the T56

When I did my clutch last year I put that same clutch in. Absolutely awesome piece, you'll love the feel.

Not pictured VMP Triple pass heat exchanger, Ford twin 68mm TB, PMAS CAI & BPS fuel rails

The blower has a 2.75 pulley

I plan to install the clutch and break it in before I install the blower, so it’ll be a few weeks before I strap the baby 2.3L on.

Pulled the transmission today to start the 26 spine and clutch installation. I love how the T56 separates from the bell housing. The LTH engulf the bell housing, but I was able to slip the transmission out.

Used a ratchet strap to hold the transmission up against an engine stand and pulled the (11) 15mm bolts that hold the cover

The 10 spine came right out, I installed the new race/bearings on the 26 spline and dropped it in.

The cover wasn’t going back on as easily as I thought it should & the input shaft wasn’t spinning freely. I was getting late so I tabled it until tomorrow.
