starter bolts removal

ok I'm changing the clutch on my cobra. how do i get the bolts off for the starter, i have tried long extents went to utube. their got to be a better way than lifting the motor.. also if you know of anyother suprises go ahead an post, i need all the help i can get..

pull the fender liner back a little bit and guide it in while watching from there. Then use your extensions. I know it's not what you want to hear but it's how it's best to get done

I've removed the starter on two separate cobra's in about 15 mins a pop. I use a short socket, u-joint and enough extensions to position the ratchet in between the k-member and the sway bar. All the bolts come out and all of them go back in this way (I don't have to leave the top bolt out).

That last bolt will definetly drive you crazy . Like stated above a long extension through the k member and some patience and you will get it .

Two really long extensions i can put it through a hole in the K member and get to it straight on. Goes on and off pretty easy that way.

We came up with a really good way tonight that takes about 5 mins. We created this tool.
Dad welded that nut to the end of an extension then used a ratcheting wrench to turn it. Use your left hand to hold the wrench and follow the headers up to the top of the starter and guid the extension on. Works flawlessly. Even for putting the bolts back in just repeat.
