Steering rack boot leak

While installing solid rack bushings I accidentally poked a hole in drivers side steering rack boot.
Fluid came dribbling out....
Correct me if I’m wrong but I didn’t think the boots were fluid filled. Only there for dust protection.
Is my rack leaking into the boot?

Thanks

Not normal. Your rack has a bad seal. I tried rebuilding one years ago and was a real PITA. I ended up replacing it with a new one from RA.

Depending on how bad it is, it will last a few years before needing replacement.

Can any one recommend a place in Houston that rebuilds steering racks?
Given this is a terminator rack

Honestly, I think all the racks are the same, just the cobras have plastic limiters inside the inner tierods due to the wider front rims. They are little 1/4" wide plastic clips that go onto each side.

Did not know this, allows thought terminator racks had a “special” ratio or something

I think the ratio is the same, but the torsion spring is different. Or so I've been told. Back when I had my 01 Cobra I didn't notice a difference between mine and my buddies 03 Cobra. But I've talked to Fox owners who say the difference is night and day.

Here is a quick video showing the limiters and also noting if there is fluid in the boots then the rack is going bad.

This is from LMR.
