Exploring options for potentially installing a supercharger on my 2012 boss 302 with 17k miles. Was curious if anyone that’s has a boss has done the mod and in general any recommendations on best setup.

Thanks in advance for any input.

It's really no different than putting a supercharger on a 2011-2014 GT(coyote). What style centrifugal or PD? Oil pump gears would be another thing to add when adding boost. I would probably put an ATI balancer on as well.

I'd find a vmp 2.3 or buy a roush 2.3 and let it eat

Thanks for the recommendations. My ideal goal is to get it set up for some track day laps so effective cooling under longer durations at high speeds is the goal. I’m talking with a local performance shop as well so just taking in as much research and recommendations as I can.

Also if you have the chance I'd try to ride in both a centri and tvs car to see what kind of powerband you like better

If they make an ESS for that year, and you want a centri, that's 100% the route I'd take. Centri are great for rolls, and not annihilating tires and driveline components.

I had a Stage 1 Whipple on my 2013 Boss. The car was very fast with just a Stage 1. It definitely benefited from a new clutch/shifter. The car had an upgraded driveshaft when I bought it. I had the OPGs and crank sprocket done when the Whipple was installed.I was prepared to upgrade the transmission but it never needed it. I was pretty easy on the car. I did swap the 3.73s to 3.31s which was a good change with the blower.

I will definitely be upgrading the driveshaft (looking at ford racing, driveshaft shop, or a custom single piece driveshaft), as well as clutch and shifter. From everything I’ve researched and discussed it doesn’t seem like a full transmission shift is necessary. I started looking at that along with some other upgrades that would improve 0-60 times and transfer of power to pavement. I initially was looking to keep it naturally aspirated but not sure the money would justify the performance gains compared to the SC route.

2012 boss Roadrunner engine’s forged crankshaft, CNC-ported heads, and upgraded camshafts, you’ve got a solid foundation for serious power

Pro charger or EES or Vortech if you can

You don't need a new transmission, if anything just do a stage1 build for the MT82 and they are stout

You're going to have a very hard time keeping an aftermarket blower setup cool for extended lapping sessions at anything above a novice pace. If you are actually going to be doing track days I'd highly recommend spending the money elsewhere (brakes, tires, safety).

I think the Boss had different pulleys though. Like an underdrive kit if I remember correctly. I think the alternator is different too maybe.

That I'm not sure about, if he orders a kit that will all be sorted. The main install is the same.

To me the PD blower is better for a street car. Low end power and torque for good acceleration. Top end speed for me 140-160 is good enough, and even that I don't hit much. But for weekend Mexico roll racing runs that's the main top end speed.

Got you. Alternator, idler pulley and tensioner might be different. Don't know if that might affect belt length or not if you get the kit for a regular Coyote.
