To make it a somewhat short story, I have been working out for a while on a straight paleo diet. Supplementing it with 100% whey protein, a multi vitamin (opti men) and omega 3s (what ever is cheapest)... I'll usually drink a shake morning, afternoon and evening between meals. I usually sip on my evening shake before, during and after my work out.
Before switching to opti-men multi's I bought a box of the GNC mega men sport vitapaks which included their multi vitamin, glutamine pill, and a citrulline and arginine pill. It also had a thermogenic that I took only if I didn't have a cup of coffee in the morning to kickstart my day. Since coming off of the vita paks I feel like my recoveries are taking longer and I'm not feeling the pump in the gym like I was (probably due to the fact that I'm not taking the citrulline and arginine).
I would like to add the glutamine pills and the citrulline and arginine pills back into my supplementation. I will most likely being going with Optimum Nutrition brand if I can find it locally. When are the ideal times to pop the glutamine and the arginine and citrulline? Morning, pre workout, post workout, standing on my head? When I had the vitapaks I would just take them all in the morning.

Glutamine after a workout, or when you first wake up. unless you get a bcaa (see below)

Arginine, about 30 mins pre workout. I would just get something like Tier 1 made by Citadel Nutrition (google it, its a great pre workout supplement)

During a workout, get a solid BCAA like Purple Wraith, or Scivation Xtend (Not extenze)

After your finish the BCAA during your workout, drink the whey at least 30 mins after you train

So I'm supplementing protein with Optimum Nutrion (ON) 100% Whey. Contains 5g of BCAAs per scoop. I intake about 15-25g of BCAAs through out the day on top of what ever I am eating. Should I be taking more?

So the general consensus is, pop the citrulline and arginine 30-45 minutes pre workout and glutamine after workout or right when I wake up.

Also thinking about swapping my post work out Whey shake with casein.

I'm not huge into the pre-workout supplements. A lot of them have caffeine and I get shaky when I go to lift and my form goes to hell. Also, trying to stay away from creatine.

Glutamine is the only supplement I'd ever use after a workout. back int he day when Bill phillips owned EAS, they had the best of the best.

As far as protein supplementation goes, Met-Rx is still king. The rest are making pure trash.

And stay away from any 'supplement' that states in its warning label that it will raise your blood pressure or could damage your liver, kidney, etc. You'd have to be rather feebleminded to even think that's something you should ingest.

(Flame suit on).

ON owns most plants that make the raw whey that all brands use for "their" wheys.

+1 on Animal Pak. I take a animal pack after breakfast and fish oil pills after my lunch (after the gym). Preworkout is good but I've been off it for over a month now and I still get a sick pump. Maybe you should change your workouts a little if you've been doing the same thing for a while. I also only take protein after I workout.

Don't forget your T, slin, A-bombs, and pct. Stay away from Tren.
The tren sides are vastly overblown with the exception of a rare few that have major problems.

In any event, it's definitely not a compound that noob should ever consider running.

I have an espresso machine at home that I use for pre-workout.. 2 Shots of espresso and I'm good to go..

All threads like this seem to end up in "real supplements" lol. But there's a reason.

Besides using a good protein ( I LOVE O.N. products) which usually has BCAA's, Glutamine, and Arginine etc, your money is much better spent on eating right..

Period..

There is no replacement for getting nutrients from good clean food, and in most cases, supplements can be a huge waste of money, and the ones that actually work come with side effects not more severe than actually using HGH or Test.

I know firsthand that HGH is a wonder drug.. My roommates dad is 59 years old, takes it every day, is absolutely shredded, built like an ox, and healthy as a horse..

One supplement you said you would stay away from is Creatine.. Why? Out of all the over the counter products, creatine has the most hope..

Personally, I can put on 10 solid pounds of water weight when I start taking creatine, and that is the whole purpose of it, to transport more water to your muscles.. I have used Concrete for years, and actually believe that it does something, unlike many other things I've wasted money on in the past.

I'm in the military, can't take a lot of the testosterone stuff. Jack3d is also on our list of shit that we aren't allowed to use. I don't need the motivation from a caffeinated pre-workout anyways.

I'm just not a huge fan of creatine. I deploy every 6-11 months and I like to keep my stack as simple as possible. I've heard once you stop using it, you pretty much deflate.

My diet is pretty clean since I have been eating "Paleo" and I have been seeing gains from the paleo diet, protein and everything else that I am supplementing on.

The purpose of the weight gain from creatine isn't to make you appear bigger till you stop taking it, its to speed up recovery of your muscles.

I hate when I hear that when you stop taking stuff phrase. It takes a while to gain real muscle mass, go to the store and look at 5 pounds of steak and tell me that's not a huge amount of volume.

Muscle gain in any form will be retained as long as your diet is on point.

And like others said they're called SUPPLEMENTS for a reason. No point in wasting all your money on flashy bottles if your diet isn't right. You don't gain muscle without the proper intake of your macro nutrients.

I just got out of the military and jack3d has been off the ban list for sometime now. They changed the formula for that reason alone.

Also creatine is the cheapest easiest to use supplement. Just get a regular monohydrate. I use ON's micronized creatine @ 9 bucks a bottle and take 2 5 gram scoops a day. I haven't bloated up at all.
