Agreed! my tranny has always been notchy, I have tried all the miracle fluids, RP, Amsoil, etc.. Various cables, Quadrants/fire wall adjuster, currently using oem cable but the previous Steeda cable worked just as well, and lastly the Anti Venom Mod. Still notchy?
The T45 on my wifes GT w/100k shifts like butter and has been through the ringer, we use to race it every friday night local test and tune, its on the 3rd clutch since 1999, damn thing shifts great!

Sorry double posted?
Maybe it is your trans. It could also depend on what we consider notchy. The T-56 will never shift as smooth as 5 speed. At least not in my experience. To be honest I ran Coastal brand ATF in my old T-56 and it shifted just as smooth as my current trans with synchromesh. Although the synchromesh was used to help with another issue. I don't consider my current trans smooth. Especially after driving imports. But it's not too bad IMO. Having everything adjusted where I want helped immensely.

I appreciate your input bud, i plan on riding this issue out until the tranny becomes a real problem then possibly have a reputable transmission shop repair or replace with a magnum?

In my case when the time comes for a new trans I'm going with a Magnum. I think it was Tick Performance I was looking at and by the time I added up all the goodies so the trans can handle what I want I was close enough to a new Magnum price wise that it makes more sense.

Good question. I haven't read of anyone trying the Venom Mod with the factory shifter, but I don't see why it wouldn't help. Shouldn't hurt to try, just a washer and your time.

Is there any improvement gained with the Anti-Venom mod when using the original shifter?
That is because nobody should run the stock shifter.
Short throw shifter far and away one of the best mods to enjoy driving the car.

I recommend to remove the washers and leave the indent ball in the correct position. Just a tip to save you down the road.

Are you going to expand on that? Seeing as quite a few of us have those washers in place with no problems. I've done it on three different T-56's and nothing bad ever came of it. One of them is in my current 04.

I did this mod today to my trans before I installed it. I also took off the shifter detent cover plate to re-seal it. Taking the cover off showed me exactly what this mod changes.

The first two pictures are with 1 washer installed. There isn't much change over stock as the entire assembly would still compress noticeably when shifting the trans.

The last two are with 2 washers installed. You can see there is obviously less engagement of the detent ball and the assembly moves so little it's hard to see.

With all that said I can tell you that if you were to install 3 washers the detent ball wouldn't touch at all. At that point you could just install a plug as there would be no difference.

Did you go with two washers?
Yes, sorry I forgot to mention that. I ended up installing 2 washers.

I actually played with the shifter moving between 3rd and 4th gear after installing 1 and then 2 washers. There was a barely noticeable change with 1 installed. When I installed 2 the shift effort went way down.

The trans was on a harbor freight 4 caster scissor tranny jack. With 2 washers installed I didn't have to hold the trans in place going between gears because the effort dropped so much. With 1 installed the tranns would want to roll away on me before I could get in and out of each gear.

Reviving this one.

What are some potential tissues after this mod has been done if any? Seems like a nice low risk mod.

I haven't heard of anyone having adverse issues with this mod. I have, though, heard a lot of positive comments.

I did the 2 washers last summer. No ill effects, but I didn’t really notice any difference.

Thanks all

Curious to see how this will feel with an mgw. I’ll report back back once I do it.

You will love the MGW, which will add to your overall impression of the anti-venom mod. Let us know your impressions with the MGW and with the combination with the anti-venom mod.

I currently have an mgw installed, and it is a night and day difference compared to that stock junker. I’ll report back once I do the antivenom mod.
