this is a good example of why our country is becoming so pathetic...pussy parents raise pussy kids.

parent of losing team member accused winning coach of bullying the opposing team by running up the score in a 91-0 blowout.

winning coach pulled starters in the 1st, had 3rd stringers in the 2nd half...and scored 8 rushing tds, 2 punt returns, 2 passes and 1 fumble return. 8 rushing touchdowns...this sad ass parent is acting like they kept their starters in and were running post routes in the 4th quarter. it's not his fault the other team sucks so bad.

Lame...kids should suck it up!

That said, I think here in Iowa we have a mercy rule that ends a game early if such things happen. But recall, if the game ends early, everyone still knows the loser sucks, and they could use the extra practice during game time.

If things could get any worse for the losing team, they will now be known as the team who got blown out and then cried about it. Great football mentality.

I couldn't agree more.

unbelievable. they were running the score up....they probably could have. the coaches know one another and the losing coach didn't complain at all. he knew what his team was up against and expected nothing less.

Western Hills football team just flatout sucks.

They had 11 punts. 11 PUNTS!!!! 258 punt yards, which was almost half of Aledo's total offensive yardage!

You can't blame the Aledo offense because your (Western Hills) defense sucks so bad they can't even catch somebody while running.

I just with UIL could throw the book at the parents that made this accusation.

They are just pissed off because they sucked at sports when they were younger and now their kids do too.

Texas' mercy rule doesn't end the game early, instead the game clock runs non-stop for the second half of the game.

Even Western Hill's coach said that Aledo showed great sportsmanship, even with the score. Western Hill's even put 2nd and 3rd string guys in play, and was calling fair catches on punts no matter what.

This likely stems from a parent from Aledo who wants his child to get a 14th place ribbon in a 15 person event.

Sooooo pathetic.

Instead of whining about bullying, the parents of the kids that lost should use this as an opportunity to teach their kids about some important life lessons, namely:

1) Always give your best effort. You may not get the result you want, but you can be proud you tried your hardest.

2) Life is gonna kick your ass from time to time. It's how you respond that's more important.

I'm sure there's a litany of other lessons that could be learned from this, as well. I'm not even saying the parents have to be mean about it. But shielding their kids from every negative experience is just setting them up for failure in life.

On a brighter note, a local peewee football league here in North Texas has elected to completely get rid of participation trophies, and only stick with 1st-3rd trophies.

Texas' mercy rule doesn't end the game early, instead the game clock runs non-stop for the second half of the game.

They have to be down by 40 or more in the 2nd half for a running clock in Texas.

The federation rule is slightly different, once a team is up by 30 or more points in the 2nd half the losing coach has the option to run the clock starting in the 3Q, it is mandatory to run it in the 4th when a team is down by 30 or more.

I worked a game 2 friday's ago where the score was 47-0 after the 1Q. We couldnt run the clock til the 3Q.

That is definitely very pathetic on the part of the parent, but par for the course nowadays. Whatever happened to.....
* Train hard
* Play hard
* Don't make excuses for failure; instead, learn from failure and improve (life lessons)

Wonder how the parent's kid feels about this accusation!

Complaining about a loss to a clearly superior opponent is a terrible lesson to teach your kids. Learning to lose and come back better than before is (or should be) a part of growing up.
