Bruce, I have your full kit installed already, but it was bought prior to your new dropped mount, which I wasn't aware even existed. If I wanted to upgrade to that mount, would it require modding the LPW cover which I am currently running. If so, that isn't a huge deal, as I am a machinist, and have a Bridgeport in my home shop anyway. How much does the new mount cost?

Yes I believe you would have to do some milling to the LPW cover. And the Delrin isolated rear lowering mount aas well. Most likely it will be similar to the modifications we had to make to the Fore cover as shown in the photos in post #9 of this thread.

If you're a machinist by trade with access to a milling machine, it will be a piece of cake for you.

I just wanted to say Bruce is the man. I installed the full kit a year ago and without Bruce's help and advise I would have have been able to do it myself. Awesome kit and I would recommend to anyone!

For all of you looking to purchase/install the rear diff lowering mount my understanding is that it is not necessary unless you have the notorious "80 mph vibe". Bruce, PLEASE correct me if I'm wrong!!!!! So if you do not having the 80 mph vibe there is no reason to install the lowering mount, thus you don't need the milled diff cover you just need the cover unmilled.

That is correct as spelled out in the FAQ on our site:

    FTBR Frequently Asked Questions

Q: "I see that you offer a Delrin isolated lowering rear differential mount FT 1401. How's that different from your FT 1300 Delrin rear diff support?"

A: The FT 1300 Delrin rear diff support bushing set replaces the rubber bushing in the OEM mounting bracket. Used in conjunction with our front diff mounting bushing set FT 1200, you will be able to improve your driveline angle as it came from the factory but you will not be able to completely optimize it. In order to be able to completely optimize the driveline angle you'd need the lowering rear diff mount. If you currently have a driveline vibe I would highly recommend the lowering rear mount. If not, you most likely don't need it. The FT 1401 comes complete with the Delrin bushing installed in it. The FT 1401 is modified to work with the Ford Racing rear diff cover we now offer. However, if you're using the FT 1401 combined with the Ford Racing diff cover you will run into some clearance issues with the inner toe link mounting brackets on the subframe. We currently offer a milled Ford Racing cover part number FT 1350M so all you have to do is bolt your parts together and install them in your car without any clearance issues.

Sweet looking kit. Will probably upgrade to the FRPP cover and FTBR pumpkin bushings when I repalce my diff.

How's about a diff cooler kit plumbed for that FRPP cover?

The rear cover brace is not needed, nor will it fit on the new Ford Racing cover.

We've got ten covers coming and I am expecting them to arrive today. If they come today they will be milled tonight and shipped tomorrow. If not, they will be here tomorrow, milled on Saturday and shipped Monday.

    Thanks for your patience!

We received the Ford Racing covers today after waiting a few weeks for Ford to catch up with production and right after we received them they hit the milling machine. A vast majority of the covers were shipped today and most of you have already received UPS tracking info on your shipment. We have a couple more to ship next week.

We waited almost three weeks for the parts that came from Ford Racing and we shipped them the same day they were received. So trust us, we are doing our part!

Here's a photo of the ten covers we shipped today:

Just as an FYI for you guys on the fence for these covers, Ford is REALLY having a hard time keeping up with demand for these parts. Some people have had to wait two, three and four weeks for these covers. So my advice to you is if you want one, order it NOW!!!

'Better' is a subjective term. The Fore cover is good, I won't argue that. But.....it's VERY expensive. AND it doesn't work with a lowering rear diff mount without modifying. So if you've already spent the money on it you 'may' be better off trying to make it work.

However, the Ford cover that we sell on our site is significantly less money, it works with our Delrin isolated rear diff lowering mount and our Milled Ford cover we offer will allow you to install the Ford cover with the lowering mount and not have any clearance issues.

The hard tail mod for the rear subframe mounts is a great mod, it's just going to transmit a significant amount of NVH into the chassis. Both of my cars have it but they are primarily track/race cars. I would not recommend it for a DD or a street driven car.

    FWIW

I ordered and installed your full FTBR kit (w/ lowering mount) last June... will the lowering mount that I have now fit the new cover?
