I'll bite. I have 95R #214. It won a few SCCA races back in the day. Was told it was the most successful private R out of any of them. I believe it's the only 95R that Kenny Brown did. I pulled the original engine because I didn't want to hurt it and put a crate 427 in it so its 535 hp now, with a TKO
Cool! I knew there are yours and likely a few others that have done well at the club level.

My #242 '95 R is extremely fast with an aluminum 4-bolt 429 CID 636hp normally aspirated 351W (it would make a great turbo motor), Borg Warner Viper T-56, and less than 3,000lbs. It was built clean-sheet with, essentially no expense spared, as an endurance road racer with no sanctioning body (or smog inspector) telling me what I could or could not do to the car. It has been many years in the making, and is nearing the completion of its Holley 4150 HP Race carb to Holley HP EFI conversion..

Is it the fastest? Hell if I know, and I would never claim that, but it is very very fast. Just not at drag racing. This Griggs Racing World Challenge frame and suspension is world-class race quality and fully adjustable, but it is designed for road course. There is no rubber or polyurethane anywhere in this suspension. Everything is Heim jointed CroMoly. Hard launches are just not this car's thing.

BTW, I was the president of the NorCal SVTOA region its first 2-1/2 years and did attend the leadership training at PIR. That was back when Reno Giammara was leading SVTOA. What a goofball. On the auto-x he had cones literally piling up under his car and it took a while to remove them. Sheesh... I placed 3rd in that competition, with a guy with no racing experience just edging out a professional race car driver (2nd place) and I, out of 31 people (we were driving Bondurant cars, not our own).

I not only hadn't logged in for years, but I also wanted to change the email address I use here. I had to join again under the new email, then they merged accounts so I could keep my nick.

Wish I had a 95R so I could join in this discussion....
Hi @TFStang,

It looks to me like you've got one helluva stable full of fast machines already. Very impressive.
For several years I had a '99 GTS ACR. It was red with the silver stripes. I bought a set of Kinesis 3-pc forged wheels, some Hoosiers, PF pads and drove the wheels off of it at local tracks. Having 13 inch wide slicks on those means serious acceleration, cornering, and braking G's. Very very fun. No ABS, traction, or stability control. I did spin it at Thunderhill once. Flat spotted a new set of tires (down to the cord, I was going a little too fast). Going sideways at 130mph was not what I intended. 8^)
I'm curious why your '14 GT500 took 5 years to get?

Thanks, CobraRGuy

stumbled on this post. hate to chime in as I have no R to show off but to be honest I love some of the previous comments from users here who have truly remarkable cobra R's and shared pics. I often forget how many damn cool cars and owners are on here with amazing racing history.

I ordered the 2014 GT500 in August and picked it up in September of the same year. Car came in super fast.

Andy, there are a surprising number of these Rs that were run in SCCA at local venues. Many more than the few IMSA cars that exist.

Tom
Tom, your TF Racing/Zippo Motorsports 1995R has always been one of my favorites. I love purple Zippo themed racers.
