I have no doubt the V6 will do some damage, but why a V6?!?!?! I really didn't expect Ford to launch this car and would have rather seen a warmed over 5.2 FPC motor with that new 7-speed DSG.

Ford knows what they are doing. This is about winning races. This gives them the best chance at that. Their V6 is better in its class.

    V6 Fail!

Would have been more of a "super car" with a 1k HP TT V8!

    Off your rocker

I agree I would love to have seen the FPC in this car, but, that doesn't = fail! The 600+ HP EB is what they use in the Daytona Prototype car, why would you not use that for your halo car...?

I know its not a "fail" per se, but when I think of some of the "super" supercars now a days, it seems that a 1k hp number is the benchmark.

I would feel like they would have wanted a homerun with bragging rights over the other exotics and a 50hp bump from previous generation GT seems kinda meh...

I think a twin turbo flat plane crank engine or even the Twin Turbo Cobra Jet engine that I saw at SEMA few years back would have been an easy 1k hp

When the original GT40, and GT had V8's, I would have thought it would have been a natural choice to have an awesome high powered V8 to give it bragging rights over a Veyron or other exotics.

While comparing it and saying its only got 50hp more is just look at it from one angle. The PR says north of 600 so 625-650 isn't out of the question. This car will lighter, have improved aero dynamics, suspension, braking, body materials and design etc. This car will should run laps around the old one. I saw someone post somewhere that this is not another retro tribute to the 60s and 05 cars, but how it would be today if this was the first design. They kept the FGT feel with the front end nicely and went wild on the back end. Its a bold style but I think they hit it spot on. A twin turbo 8 cylinder power plant would been nice, but the V6 is smaller, lighter, cheaper, and can be just as fast so thats a big part of it. Don't forget too we have rules going in next year that a manufacturer selling cars in the USA has to average 35mpg in their fleet. The V6 will be less of a burden towards that than a V8. I am sure this engine isn't near its maximum capability either. Some tuning, new turbos, exhaust and I could see it laying down over 750 at the wheels

Most of the cars benchmarking around 1000HP or slightly below cost near 1 million dollars (koeniggsegg, laferrari, mclaren p1, 918, Pagani Huayra etc) Hell even the 700hp catergory is hovering around 450K now. Most 600hp cars are in the 250-350K range. While I don't know what the pricing will be, I hope its under 200K (not that I'll be able to afford one either way)

I expected the FPC v8. But I'm not disappointed.

What I am disappointed in is the fact that it will probably fall in the "more than I can afford, pal" category.

I'd be in if it was priced at what the GT was priced at in. 05/06. But with the money those cars do now. No way it will be that low

Nothin wrong with a V6. Hell, look at the GTR's. That car is a monster and yes, it has a TT V6. Now pair that with a chassis that handles 10x better and you got a legit supercar. Way to go Ford!

I too am eagerly awaiting some sort of price point so I can throw my GT500 on the market as the down payment.

I have no problem with the V6 power plant. Ford is finally getting back to marketing its cars with some swagger. It will be nice to see them trotting out the racing pedigree when they release more details about the engineering.

    I agree.

I have seen plenty of members complaining that it will be overpriced at $200k. Little do they know you can't even get in a 05/06 for $200k any more.

Another site, SAACforums, posted a thread estimating the cost of the new Ford GT @ 390K !!
    .
If you were going to spend 390K, would you buy a 6 with 600 hp, or a 12 with 700 hp ?
    .
..............( at this price point, the knife @ a gun fight )

The question as well would be, Is this going to be a limited production vehicle again? meaning only two years and so many made?

The 05/6s would put down 560 to the wheels off the showroom floor. That a 30hp loss then the previous model!

Other then the engine I can't think of one thing I would change, it is perfect and gorgeous. Maybe they will release a optional version with a V8 in a yr or 2.. Wish I could afford one.
