I was just about to type the same thing. It's almost like someone took the car and intentionally f*cked it up. All of the replacement improperly installed, and some of the gheto fixes, make me scratch my head. Sad that all this crap was done to such an excellent car.

Glad it's in good hands now though.

It is kind of strage that [ALL][/B] of this stuff is wrong. Youd figure theyd get something right eventually. Um... I really dont know how any mechanic that owns more than $10 in tools could get half of this stuff wrong...

Update

Well I have good news and bad news...again. The good news is that after I posted last time about the caliper being locked up I thought I remembered having a spare at the house. So I went home and sure enough I had one that was an exact match. So I put the new caliper on and then reassembled the brakes. Then to reseat the new piston I put the car in the air just enough to get the tires off the ground, turned the car on and put it in gear and started to reseat the caliper piston. Which of coruse at this point I noticed that the whole wheel was wobbling and off center. FML.

So I took the wheel off and put it on the balancer and it balanced fine. Then thinking, or perhaps hoping, that maybe they put something behind the rotor I disassembled the brakes again and reseated the rotor. However when I reassembled everything there was no change and thus I knew I had a bent axle on the left rear. Well, so much for finally driving the car today now that the weather is nice.

After the initial shock set in that I'd have to buy a new axle and partially disassemble the rear to get a new axle in I realized that I had a spare sitting at the house...but I'd have to steal it from another car and strand it in the meantime. So last night we were able to take out an axle from the 97 Mustang and now I just need the time to swap the axle into the BAB.

On a slightly happier note my new SVT emblem and stainless steel Cobra bumper inserts just arrived in the mail. Now I I need to get the front core replaced so that I can have the front bumper, rear bumper, and trunklid repainted.

This is one of those cars that you're never going to be able to sell after all the blood, sweat, and tears you're putting into it.

I think he was referring to the 97 donor car that's been down for a few years and is now going to be missing its rear end.

Not missing a rear, just swapping axles.

Here are some pics I took of the underbody, motor and interior yesterday.

Remember how I mentioned a while back that the transmission crossmember was fubar'd when they modified it to reinstall it?

Here is what the rear fenderwells should look like (without the notch in the rear bumper support for the trailer hitch and the missing bolts of course):

And here is what it shouldn't look like.

Update:

Yesterday I finished installing the axle thanks to our Master Tech and we went ahead and flushed the whole braking system. After that I was able to take the car on the road for more than 5 minutes and the power feels great up till about 4k (didn't want to wind it further up till we get more miles on it). The one thing I do notice with the dumps is that it rattles EVERYTHING. I need to fix that ASAP as the drone at about 7 almsot hurts your ears. I still have the rear suspension making noise when the suspension loads/unloads or when you hit any sort of road bump. I also noticed that the front suspension does the same thing but only on the right hand side. Thus it looks like I'll be tearing out the suspension this weekend and sorting it all out.

Texas is the best..
After reading this I can tell you are a much more forgiving man than I am. I would have nailed his butt in small claims court for all this stuff. Especially for selling you a wrecked car that had been heavily damaged. I would say he knew just wanted to get rid of it. Good luck.

Im with you.. No way in hell the previous owner could have been ignorant to all these problems.. I mean really!!!!:dw:

Anyways props to ya MYSTEED , your taking this a whole lot better than I would have.. I don't care what the previous owner would have told me. Not buyin... Sorry..:fm:
