Lmao, I was the LEED instructor for the whole company. Basically just figured out the cheapest and easiest way to get that damn plaque. Mostly a money making scam imo.
This is the biggest reason to get solar/powerwalls at this point is to avoid dealing with blackouts, which sadly are going to become norm as society fails to produce more power more economically to meet the demand. When all your neighbors lights are out you'll be rockin.

- The copper market is supported by few new discoveries at a time of rising demand that will only increase with decarbonization efforts, Freeport McMoRan (NYSE:FCX) CEO Richard Adkerson tells Bloomberg.
- "There's no shale oil for copper," Adkerson says. "Unlike the oil industry, where you have an ongoing flow of discoveries and now with a new element of shale coming in, copper mines of size are very rare to find."
- Government and market actions can affect prices in the short term, but copper is a very long-term business and is "extraordinarily strong," the CEO says.
- At the same time, copper faces a supply scarcity that will require both substitution and increased recycling, Adkerson says, adding that even if prices were to double tomorrow, Freeport would be unable to bring on new supply within five years.
- Comex July copper (HG1:COM) settled +3% today at $4.677/lb. ($10,310/ton), ~2.5% off record highs.
- Copper had been drifting lower on Chinese threats to restrain commodity prices, but their effect has faded in favor of strong supply and demand fundamentals, Saxo Bank's Ole Hansen says.
- Goldman Sachs has predicted copper prices would hit $15K/ton by 2025.

Our Furnace / AC was upgraded 2 years ago and the bastards used aluminum wire for the condenser unit. By the time I realized this it was too late. I should have told them copper only but did not think they were going to cut corners like that. Everything in our panel is copper except for the AC unit. Oh well it works ok and they did a clean install but I just wish I caught them earlier and would have told them to stop and go get copper wires.
Wonder when International and John Deere will make an electric combine that can run for days on end without a charge.

I get a kick out of listening to developers when they realize the cost of construction is so much higher to make LEED Gold status.
I don't get too much into it due to it's mostly building specs and I deal with drainage design but it's a joke.
No one wants to give up that sweet federal tax money. Not even for keeping the smoking age at 18. As much as the government likes throwing around money, I think they've shown they're going to use the stick rather than the carrot. States and cities have already jumped on the "no new ICE sales" beyond a certain point, and the EPA is already pushing greenhouse gas emissions regulations that would make ICE impossible. They've tried the incentives and it hasn't had a profound impact. I think the incentives may happen a la cash for clunkers, but it's going to be a second phase of things, once they realize that people are still keeping their old ICE cars on the road. When the EPA goes "why are all these poor people still driving ICE cars? We need to stop that..."
Yup. When I worked in architectural wall paneling and then interior cabinetry/casework the LEED/FSC/NAUF shit would triple the costs. On top of that, FSC did audits and any project with their stuff required dumb things like, had to use green colored folders, any file system had to be independent of other files (so separate file cabinets), required separate assembly line and carts, all of which added now extra labor/overhead.
So glad im in deep foundations/earthwork and our industry couldnt give a **** less about any of that shit.

The U.S. Senate Finance Committee advanced legislation on Wednesday that would boost electric vehicle tax credits to as much as $12,500 for EVs that are assembled by union workers in the United States.
The bill would limit tax credits to vehicles with a retail price below $80,000 to qualify for the tax credits. The current maximum tax credit is $7,500 with no maximum price and currently phases out for individual automakers once they hit 200,000 total EVs sold.
