I thought some of you might have missed this from a prior thread, As of 3 months ago Tremec started carrying their own brand of MTF and is good for all Tremec transmissions, I called Tremec and they told me it is not one of the mtfs that has been repackaged with their name on it. They say it is there own formulation that works for all tremecs. Its a little expensive but Im going to try it. On line there seems to be only two dealers that carry it, here is one of them and to see full specs drop down to the bottom of that page.

Thanks for posting! I have their Magnum XL tranny and I love it. Currently using Mobil 1. I wonder if the 'genuine' Tremec fluid would be any better? At $86 for a gallon, it sure ain't cheap, but I'd buy it if it was warranted.

That is awfully expensive for a blended oil. I hope its worth it. Can't wait for your review.

Time to break out the mass spectrometer and see what's in it.

looks like the viscosity might be a little more than the other MTFs. it is supposed to be good for any tremecs which would include those with fiber synchros.

Here are the very preliminary results:

    But first some background,
I started out (low mileage 2001 cobra 3650 trans and very notchy) with the factory shifter and oil.
Then I went with the Pro5 shifter which definitely took out the sloppiness compared to stock shifter.
Then I changed to the mobile 1 with secret sauce, that was a little better but still pretty notchy.
Then I switched to GM synchromesh, that smoothed things out pretty good but it only lasted about 2.5k miles and it started getting notchy again-----others have said how the GM synchromesh starts out good but then fades out.
Then I changed to a combo of mobile 1 and dex/merc. multi use, --That did not work.
So now Ive changed to this Tremec Synchromesh and---------just on a couple short drives it has really smoothed the shifting. Upshifts and downshifts quite a bit smoother but it didnt help gear whine, in fact gear whine may even be louder although the synchros when downshifting are quieter. No it does not shift like butter and I never believe anyone who says their Tremec shifts like butter lol.
Im going on a road trip in a couple weeks so Ill be better able to give an assessment on this smoother shifting and if it stays that way.

Forgot to mention this tremec stuff is almost completely clear and feels a little thinner than the GM stuff but at the same time if feels more sticky. It kind of smells like ATF mixed with a little bit of regular gear oil-------Not that any of that is scientific or matters, lol.

You have a 2001 Cobra, correct? If you're hearing gear whine, you might want to try one of my shifter gasket kits. The base gasket does a good job isolating transmission gear noise. Click HERE for more info. You can also read some testimonials.

Thank You, yep when I changed shifters i installed your gasket along with the handle gasket. What really seamed to make a difference with noise is extra insulation under the boot. For a relatively
modern transmission the 3650 is a ridiculously noisy transmission including all the sloppy freeplay/backlash that transmits through.

OP, I'm interested in your opinion after your trip. My 3650 is not too noisy (although I do get some whine which I'm sure a CobraBob gasket would improve). I have a Tri-Ax shifter which has been on the car since 2001.

Ok here is the update after 400 mile road trip.

The Tremic oil started out even better than the G.M. synchromesh and on the first 100 miles of my trip it was really smooth in all gears---upshift or downshift, like around 60% smoother and I thought it was too good to be true, even when cold it felt good, Well after about 150 miles it started to degrade just like the G.M. stuff did and now its back to almost where it was before. At the end of my trip it was holding at about 15% better than before but that is nothing to write home about and not acceptable to me. I do not understand how an oil can make such an initial difference but fades out in a short time---which is a frequent complaint about the G.M. stuff. These 3650s and other tremecs are so temperamental about what oil to use and in the end it seems to not make much of a difference. I have one theory and that is it is about the viscosity------Im tempted to put in a regular gear oil with a heavier viscosity as my last resort. Ive have read so many threads and post about what oil and about the synchros needing just the right oil and how the synchros either stick together too much or slip too much depending on what oil. One thing I know for sure these transmission are not well designed. If i decide to not sell my car I may be in the market for a Magnum 6speed trans., even though its a tremec all reports say it is a sweet shifting trans. When I talked to Tremec they said the best shifting trans have an internal one rail shift as opposed to most of the tremecs that have 3 rails. The t5 and the magnum 6 speeds are the ones that have one rail.

Granted, I have the T45..... I've always used Valvoline non-synth MTF or the Castol non-syth MTF with no problems.
dunno....same stuff I use for PS fluid..and my diffy with detroit true track.

If I were to spend bigger money, I would try something from Amsoil.
    The Audi transmission gets that.

Each different Tremec transmission seems to need different oils. Its too bad there is such a problem with getting the right oil to work with each transmission. I've just become accustomed to all the quirks of the TR-3650 over the years. I have to say that it is the hardest shifting transmission I've ever driven in a car or pick-up truck. Only an old 1962 IHC oilfield truck with a 5 and a 4 was harder, and it was not synchromesh in any gear.

Yeah, they are ridiculous. Like Ive said before even the 50s, 60s and 70s 3 and 4 speed Borg Warner and Muncies shifted way smoother and faster. Maybe I might drain out a pint of the Tremec mtl and add some Lucas trans fix. At this point I will try anything.

My 3650 sounds like a supercharger. It always has. That gasket really does help with interior noise.

My 3650 is a little gear noisy but not that bad. That being said, I just ordered a gasket kit from CobraBob. Its not really an issue as the NVH from the rear suspension is the biggest thing now that I've installed the FTBR kit, and it will only get worse once I install the Global West LCA bushings. The car is not a DD though, so I don't really mind.

I'm stuck using my car as a daily right now. I can't wait to have it as a toy only.
