I wonder what's going on with VMP's gen 3 TVS. Haven't really seen any articles or videos on it lately. I expected a lot more by now. Anybody???

    Been on you tube?

Blowing the release by not having the TB ready did not do them any favors.

I have the head unit and my car will be ready to rock with the Gen 3, new CJ 9" rear and Fore return system for this fall and hopefully Mod Nats.
Only questions are which TB and which wheels/tires.
Screwing up the launch with a TB issue doesn't hide the potential in the badass TVS2650 rotor pack.
I made 965rwhp with their Gen2R, and my good friends Coyote/6R has now been running consistent PBs with the VMP Gen3, so we're hoping to help work on the TB issue, but for now just adapting KB168 or Whipple 170s.
I'm happy we have a TVS2650 easily available, gotta give VMP huge props there!

I just ordered the big KB TB and will be adapting it for use with my gen 3. Expecting big things with this and 149 intake combo. Will get rear end done at same time, going with strange 31s and trutrac. Sticking with 373s in a welded up 8.8. Also debating on wheel tire combo, not sure what I am going to go with. May run 305 ETs on stock or upgrade wheels and go with 315s.

that is my exact set up except kb instead of whipple TB. those are monster numbers on pump gas from a 5.4.

    17 lbs is 2.9

edit: to OP, now think of what this set up does with 22lbs. that is your big deal....

Let me start by stating that I am a VMP supporter, and I was actually looking forward to a successful launch of their new blower. Here is my opinion on why the VMP Gen 3 2650 release has flopped so far:

    - Exclusive throttle body bolt pattern. I would personally NOT install an adapter to run a “smaller” throttle body.
    - The 160mm mono-blade throttle body designed specifically for street use on the Gen 3 2650 failsafes. One problem that has been publically acknowledged is that the throttle body blade cannot close enough to limit intake air to control idle RPM on a stock-cammed car. The PCM keeps trying to close the throttle body blade when it is already physically closed.
    - You need to run the 160mm or another mono-blade throttle body on the Gen 3 2650 for a significant gain over VMP’s previous 2.3L Gen 2R offering with a dual 67mm throttle body and 2.4” pulley, at least on a stock long block car running pump gas.
    - Most already have a potent 2.3L TVS setup, Whipple, or Kenne Bell, and it just doesn’t make financial sense to spend another $4K for a small horsepower/torque gain that the street cannot hold anyway.

I do hope that they get it all sorted out soon. The blower itself seems very capable.

So I assume with the Gen 3 the easy fix for the consumer is to not run VMP's TB, instead use the Kenne Belle 168 or the Whipple elliptical 170mm TB.

Correct but the bolt patterns dont match so you either need to have adapter plate fabbed or break out your cordless drill and put some holes in the TB. I am going latter route.

Lets see some pictures when you are done with it plz. Curious to see how the KB t/b matches up to the 2650 inlet.

Shouldn't the bolt patterns match with the Whipple?

No. The 2650 is proprietary bolt pattern. That is @SCGallo2 is referring to in the screw up of the roll out.

KB is a better fit than the Whipple, but neither perfect.
    I'll have pics soon.
    We have adapted both.

So you're thinking of drilling holes in the 160 blade as a bypass?
Good trial if you have one, maybe we will try that.
We chose to just use proven 168/170 options.
Over the winter I'll likely have the case welded/ported and have a KB adapter plate welded on and then the whole case plenum fully ported.
Or they'll have the 173 figured out by then.

Think he means he's going to drill new bolt holes so it will mount up without an adapter, not holes in the blade.
