Yes, I did the same. Didn’t install the stock wire. You have to cut the green wire where the alternator wire hooks to fuse box. Put an eyelet on the green wire and put it on the fuse box stud.

Ran 0/1 gauge welding wire from the alternator to the front of the car and looped it behind the battery, added a 300 amp circuit breaker and then ran 0/1 from that to the fuse box stud. Way cleaner than the KMJ junk and 1/2 the price.

For the grounds I went from the negative battery terminal to the stud above the alternator bracket. Second ground went from the frame rail and I bolted it to the engine block behind the motor mount using one of the open threaded holes on the block.

I’m running a KMJ 250 as well without any issues. I did the big wire upgrade he sells with it. I didn’t cut any wires but just ran the power wire directly on top of the old stock one. Other than that I just followed the instructions he included for the grounds.

I also did the wiring upgrade from KMJ and wound up only using the ground wires. The one power wire got twisted and I wasn’t happy with it. Wound up running to a west marine and they have rolls of the wire in stock and the lugs. Bought a crimper off Amazon and made my own.

This past Saturday I brought the Cobra home after it being down in Mass for about 6ish weeks spending some time with Cobra Dan.

Went down there for the new fuel pumps and Fore hat but turned into a lot more lol.
Turns out my fuel tank was rusted so I had to source a new one and have it sent to him. When I first bought the car I was told that the fuel pumps were aftermarket but when on the dyno at Performace Dyno before it closed the numbers Pete was seeing showed they did not appear to be. Well turns out with the tank having rust in it I'm sure my filter or the pumps themselves were clogged with rust. I always thought the car felt strong after the 2.3 Whipple but nothing like it does now. I think the rust was reeking havoc between my pumps and filter
So that was the big thing that he was able to find. Other than that I needed to have my swaybar end links and tie rods replaced in the rear and also ball joints. Both were replaced with FTBR components.

So everything done while it was there:

New fuel tank sourced from Blu auto

Swapped H&R Sport Springs to H&R Race Springs

Fore hat with Ford GT Supercar Improved Pumps

Black 306 FPDM

FTBR Swabar end links and Tie Rods

New Ball joints

And he did lots of other little things. included some neater wire tucking for the hard lines coming off the back of the whipple.

Overall now: The car feels incredible, the throttle response as compared to before is not even comparable. He did say the pumps that came out were an older style pump so I'm just not sure if the pumps were clogged or if they just couldn't keep up with what the car needed. I can pull them out of my old tank if anyone wants to see what they were. The car feels so unbelievably strong now and hits sooo hard with very little throttle input. The 2.3 Whipple 100% hits harder than my Gen3R did on my last one. For a street only car its an incredible blower.

As far as Cobra Dan: What an awesome stand up guy. His communication was excellent and was always updating me with what was going on and sending pictures of things that needed attention or video and not once did I feel sketched out about anything.

Do you know the owner of the SB vert on the lift?

I'm happy to hear that the 6+week time with Cobra Dan has payed off huge results. How long ago was the dyno session at Performance Dyno? Sounds like there were no signs of rusting on the exterior of the fuel tank. It's a shame we're now going into the winter season, but you'll get to have some enjoyable drives come Spring.

I'm not sure on who the owner of the vert was but it came in after mine was dropped off. I had it on the dyno back in this past spring. At the time Pete put the tune in for the pumps as we talked about getting the hat and pumps for it so all Dan had to do was upload the tune from my X4 once the pumps were in. It's not even worth trying to figure out at this point how the moisture got in there but the car runs incredible now. I'm going to pull those pumps out today from the tank and take a look inside of it. I would have had it back sooner but Dan got sick when it was done and right when he got better I came down with my third round of Covid so that actually backed everything up for a few weeks.

Forgot to mention that also swapped over from H&R Sport Springs to H&R Race Springs

Any more pictures of the fuel hat set up? What injectors are you running? I have a 2.3L Whipple build. Debating going return fuel or upgrading to the Fore hat. I currently have a stock hat with Ford GT pumps and want to eliminate the lines inside the tank just for reliability purposes.

JMO, but if you're going to stay around 600hp and stay on pump gas stick with returnless. If there is any inkling of cranking up the boost and possibly going E85 swap to return style.

That is the plan. Itch for a larger blower is gone. Pretty happy with my 2.3 baby Whipple. Haven’t had any fuelling issues. My float seems to be stuck as the gas gauge only reads Empty or Full. So I will be dropping the tank. Was planning on just throwing a Fore hat in while it’s down.

Yeah, I agree it really isn't probably worth the time to try to find out how the interior rust started. Much better to focus on today and how well your Cobra is performing today. So Pete "retired" this past early summer? I'm sure he is missed by a lot of Mustang owners in the NE.

That's the only photo he sent me with the hat installed. I'm running Ford #60lb injectors. As stated above if you're not going to crank the boost up and stay on pump gas and keep it 600-700 there's really no need for a full return system. I run the KB fuel rail pressure disc for added measure as ditching the rail sensor is a nice benefit to the return system but its a bit more coin for a set up like that. This hat and pumps ran me $700 plus the injectors and the back 306 FPDM.

Pete is kinda sort of done with tuning unless you're a customer of Cobra Dans as he will still do tuning for his customers but no more off the street people. His dyno was sold but ended up not far from where Cobra Dan is located. I'm not sure on all the details of how Pete will still have access to it but this is what I was told from Dan when I brought my car down there.

All I'm missing is the Fore hat. Basically same set up as yours with the 60lb injectors and black306 FPDM with wire upgrade.
