We spent Saturday at Texas Motor Speedway for the LMR 25th anniversary event. This was the first event with the new car and my wife’s first ever car event.

We were able to check out hundreds of cars, including quite a few 2000 Cobra R’s in the garage.
We did a road course session as well as a few laps on the oval.

Wish I could have made it out this year. I totally forgot when I booked my moms flight to come visit. Next year, I will be there for sure!

Looking good Tony!

This past Saturday I brought the Cobra home after it being down in Mass for about 6ish weeks spending some time with Cobra Dan.

Went down there for the new fuel pumps and Fore hat but turned into a lot more lol.
Turns out my fuel tank was rusted so I had to source a new one and have it sent to him. When I first bought the car I was told that the fuel pumps were aftermarket but when on the dyno at Performace Dyno before it closed the numbers Pete was seeing showed they did not appear to be. Well turns out with the tank having rust in it I'm sure my filter or the pumps themselves were clogged with rust. I always thought the car felt strong after the 2.3 Whipple but nothing like it does now. I think the rust was reeking havoc between my pumps and filter
So that was the big thing that he was able to find. Other than that I needed to have my swaybar end links and tie rods replaced in the rear and also ball joints. Both were replaced with FTBR components.

So everything done while it was there:

New fuel tank sourced from Blu auto

Swapped H&R Sport Springs to H&R Race Springs

Fore hat with Ford GT Supercar Improved Pumps

Black 306 FPDM

FTBR Swabar end links and Tie Rods

New Ball joints

And he did lots of other little things. included some neater wire tucking for the hard lines coming off the back of the whipple.

Overall now: The car feels incredible, the throttle response as compared to before is not even comparable. He did say the pumps that came out were an older style pump so I'm just not sure if the pumps were clogged or if they just couldn't keep up with what the car needed. I can pull them out of my old tank if anyone wants to see what they were. The car feels so unbelievably strong now and hits sooo hard with very little throttle input. The 2.3 Whipple 100% hits harder than my Gen3R did on my last one. For a street only car its an incredible blower.

As far as Cobra Dan: What an awesome stand up guy. His communication was excellent and was always updating me with what was going on and sending pictures of things that needed attention or video and not once did I feel sketched out about anything. Hey bud pretty sure the silver nut on the bottom of of tie rod is supposed to be removed before being torqued down.

i like how you did the rear bumper inserts on your car. i did something similar on my sonic blue. black inserts with light gray or white outlines. makes for a cool contrast with the sonic blue
I agree. You don't see the outlined inserts very often. With the right paint color (like Sonic Blue), they pop nicely.

I found it like that but I like it a lot so I won’t be changing them for a different set. The all chrome or all black ones are very common
