That really sucks! My insurance company can BURN!

I called them, and their original quote was for $414/mo. (That's w/ $1,000 deductable, and multiple car discount)

I'm 21, male, and have a supremely clean driving record.

Not only that, before I got the Cobra, I had a V-8 T-bird, which wasn't much, but still considered "high performance".

I never got pulled over with it, and my ins company knows that.

lol- They also told me I couldn't keep both cars. I have to sell my bird (and take a nasty loss seeing as how I put at least $5,000 in aftermarket into it) b/c they won't cover me on two high performance vehicles. And, they said If I ever get a speeding ticket they are doing to drop my whole family.

Piss on those fools. I'm going shopping!

I did have an "accident" on my record though. Because I bumped into a gate at my apartment in Houston. And it was 700 in damage. I ended up paying out of pocket to keep my ins record clean. But, they failed to realize that. I had to call them and bitch on the phone for hours. The underwriter said it'll be a lot cheaper than what I was origionally quoted w/o the accident. So, we'll see.

I'm kind of pissed that guys 16 year old daughter can drive one for over $100 a mo. less than me!!

I just realized, w/ my car payment + insurance.....I could've bought a $100,000 home and had nearly the same payment! lol

    To snakedriver

What insurance company do you have?

That is not a bad payment at all! Only $20 bucks more a month that what I paid on the bird.

Tell them I said, "What's up?"

    lol

    :bash:

    :burn:

    Die Ins. co.......DIE :cuss:

    Just a little info ...

All of you should take a moment to check, but if anyone in your family (mother / father generally) was in the military or you were ... you should be insured with USAA. Their rates are outstanding, very reasonable and their service is impeccable. I have been with them for about 3 years now, and with 1 99 Yukon 4x4, 1 96 Cobra Coupe, 1 02 SVT Lightning and 1 65 Sunbeam Tiger, I pay around $4200 a year. Not to bad for a 29 year old with 1 speeding ticket, and not married yet. I live in California so my rates are higher to begin with and in San Francisco so my rates take another hike.

Also check out places like www.insuance.com for online quotes and ammunition for when you want to go "talk" to your insurance agent about your rates.

Also www.insweb.com is another online insurance website for comparision and purchase. Hope this helps.

I think mine was like $85 or $95 a month back when I had my car.

Married, multicar, no wrecks, no tickets, drivers ed (yeah 10 years ago) 25. Of course we showed it as my wife driving it. It was cheaper to show me on her 00 v6 accord with higher liability since it was a lease than me on the cobra. Clean record for her too. Total we were paying $169 a month. State Farm.

The last post from WASNTME brings up a very good point, the limits and deductable can help or hinder your rates. My coverage is 300k/750k (I own my own company) with $1000 deductable. I only have my auto's through my insurance company, so I don't get the home owners discount.

Chris, your post reminds me of a line off of "The Blues Brothers". "His name is like a rash all over the system". Referring of course to Elwoods driving record.:D

Glad to hear it, cause of course by lowering your insurance rates the signifigant other in your life can enjoy more evenings on the town...

Now the real question is... what did he mean by that :)
